When asked about the style of offense he would run at Auburn, Coach Scot Leoffer responded the offense would be built around the current personnel. This is always a good sign, when a coordinator schemes to the strength of his personnel rather than forcing his schemes upon the players. This was the case for Loeffler this past season at Temple. He built a run-heavy offense to take advantage of the Owls running backs and mobile quarterback.
The play...

On this play, Temple comes out in a 2-TE formation after consecutive run plays against the Wyoming defense. Because Temple ran the ball 70 percent of the time, the Wyoming defense would likely play the run first and Loeffler takes advantage of the Wyoming defense, tipping their hand with 8 men in the box. At the snap, both TE's release off the line as the QB play-actions with the RB.
Evan Rodriguez will basically run a deep seam route down the middle of the field, with the LB's playing the run and the safeties committed to the other TE and the WR on the opposite side. The quarterback delivers the pass to a wide open Rodriguez, resulting in a 40-yard gain, which later set up a TD run. During the 2011 season, Temple had 7 different players, who registered at least 6 impact plays. This is a strong indicator, Loeffler will spread the ball around to his playmakers.
Rodriguez was Temple's leading receiver with 35 receptions. This included 21 plays that resulted in a first down or TD. It also included 13 impact plays or plays of 15-yards or more. Coach Loeffler utilized 2 & 3 TE sets at Temple, which should make Auburn's solid group of talented and athletic TE's excited about 2012. It's important to remember that Coach Urban Meyer utilized the TE's heavily in his Florida offense and Coach Loeffler was a part of his coaching staff.
With Auburn still recruiting to upgrade their WR position, look for Auburn to take advantage of their deep TE position in 2012.
