The primary reasoning behind the hiring of Scot Loeffler was his history of developing quarterbacks. Based on his coaching background, we can likely expect many elements of the west coast offense in Auburn's pass-offense.

The above is from a feature on Bill Walsh by NFL Films. A segment from this feature focused on the quarterback going through his progressions often consisting of 3 routes. One of the the 3 routes normally included an outlet route, which primarily was a RB releasing from the backfield.

The above is a breakdown of Loeffler working with quarterback Kiehl Frazier. Frazier was able to go through 3 routes within 2 seconds before completing his pass. Loeffler is in position to evaluate Frazier's mechanics as well as decision making during the skeleton drill.

During the feature on Bill Walsh, Coach Walsh comments on the need of the quarterback to move in the pocket as he goes through his progressions. By the time the quarterback has reached his 3rd level of progression, the pocket around him is closing in. This requires for the quarterback to move within the pocket.

As mentioned earlier, the quarterback will often have his RB as an outlet pass. During this play from the 2012 A-Day game, Clint Moseley completes an outlet pass to Mike Blakely. Breaking down over 100 offensive plays by the Temple offense during 2011, I quickly observed the RB, HB and TE's utilized as outlets were often left uncovered especially under play-action situations. The same could be seen with Onterio McCalebb under Gus Malzahn. How often was McCalebb left uncovered after releasing out of the backfield?

Though Auburn's offense as yet to take a regular season snap under Scot Loeffler, we have already witnessed the maturation process with Kiehl Frazier. Frazier's confidence level has magnified because his comfort level within Loeffler's structured environment has allowed it to occur.
