Kiehl Frazier's starting debut might be the most challenging during the modern era of Auburn football. Consider the following...
Since 1951 Auburn has opened the season against a ranked opponent in 6 of 61 seasons (1952, 1957, 1984, 2002, 2003 and 2005).
Of those 6 season openers, 4 were away from Jordan-Hare.
Frazier will make his starting debut on the road against the No. 14 ranked team in the country against an opponent that defeated Auburn by 14 points the year before. There will be 3 new starters on the OL and 2 of them will make their first collegiate debut. He will be working within a brand new offense under the guidance of a coordinator with 13 games of experience as a collegiate offensive coordinator. At this point, Auburn has yet to find a second receiver to compliment Emory Blake and Auburn lost the services of an established SEC caliber running back in Michael Dyer.

History shows that even the best of Auburn quarterbacks struggled in their starting debut against quality opponents, so Frazier has a major challenge in front of him this Saturday night.
Last year, Auburn attempted only 26 percent of their passes on first down and 34 percent on 3rd down. It was only the 4th time over the past 20 years that Auburn attempted more passes on 3rd down than 1st down. Over the past 20 years Auburn has attempted 36 percent of their passes on first down. Hopefully, Scot Loeffler will make sure that Frazier is not placed in a similar stressful environment.
* Establish running game.
* Utilize play-action and roll outs to give Frazier options to be successful.
* Utilize the RB's and TE's early on in the passing game to develop confidence and consistency.
Frazier is not the quarterback he will eventually become down the road so allow him to make plays but do not place him into situations where he MUST make plays. He was recruited by Auburn to be the future because of his talent and work ethic and he signed with Auburn to play in games like this to compete for championships. As the season progresses he will become more confident and his leadership qualities will become frequently noticeable.
I cannot wait to see the young man compete with his team this Saturday night and look forward to watching him grow up to become a championship caliber quarterback.
