2013 3* JUCO QB Nick Marshall signs with AU!

Looks like he is putting up good numbers at a Kansas Juco, and we are recruiting him as a QB.

He was a DB @ Thuga and was dismissed along with a few others for stealing from team mates.

Not sure I would want this kid, and not sure he is a D1 QB. Tremendous athlete from what I hear though.

I live near the Valdosta Area and I can tell you right now. If you have the chance to add Nick Marshall to your football team, then you better add Nick Marshall to your football team. This kid is much younger than I, but we attended the same high school at Wilcox County which is about an hour south of Macon for those of you that aren't sure where the heck Rochelle, Georgia is located on the map. My father was an assistant there and coached this kid in high school.

I remember my father calling me one afternoon back when no one knew this kid from any other kid in class and said "Nick Marshall"...he was a seventh grader at the time..."I want you to remember that I said it first"...

Nick is a very quiet individual although, he did have a setback at the school somewhere near Atlanta. I believe Nick learned from his mistake and is trying to take advantage of the chance that has been given to him. He is a superb athlete and I, personally, being an Auburn guy wanted Auburn to grab him out of high school. I never wanted to see him play DB anywhere. This kid is a QUARTERBACK! I have seen him play and he is fun to watch. Nick Marshall would be an awesome pickup. I enjoy every fall weekend on the Plains, but seeing one from my own high school would be even sweeter.

It would be worth your time and interest to google this kid's highlight videos.

War Eagle!

Marshall is a major "dual threat" QB...of course not as big, but similar to Cam Newton as to what he can do with the football...Marshall almost looks effortless avoiding tackles and scrambling to find open receivers.

There's no question...a coach would be stupid not to want to run the spread with an QB like this...to be honest, I hate to make any comparisons to Cam Newton...but there are alot of similarities...definitely just as athletic...and Marshall is not one that lacks confidence either.

Here's a link to one of his highlight reels...

I am all for giving the guy another chance. Athens has been conducive to the type of behavior for quite some time under CMR's watch.

Do you think his mistakes were more of the Culture that has been going on in Athens for years?

We definitely need a QB with some swagger and be able to lead.

2 part question: Does he own a motorcycle? If yes, does he give rides to hot young ex-volleyball players who are not his wife?

My opinion of him will be based solely on how these 2 questions are answered.

There's no swag deficiency in this kid. I never heard any negative words about him when he was in high school. Athens Culture?...It's a prerequisite I think...

No wheels so no to the second question as well...

Anyone have any info on how interested Auburn is in this kid, and whether he has any interest in us?

Texas offers former UGA DB as a quarterback

9:49 am January 2, 2013, by Michael Carvell

One of the state’s most inspirational recruiting stories this year involves a former UGA football player.

Since being dismissed from UGA nearly a year ago, Nick Marshall of Wilcox County High School has resurrected his career – and life – somewhere in the middle of Kansas.

The former AJC Super 11 selection switched back to his preferred position of QB, enrolled at Garden City junior college, and had a breakout season that has attracted attention from big-time college scouts.

“Nick had a great season for us, and that opened up a lot of doors for him,” Garden City coach Jeff Tatum told the AJC.

Texas is the most recent scholarship offer for Marshall, who is also considering Kansas State and Indiana, among others. Auburn has also expressed heavy interest.

I remember hearing about this kid when he played for Georgia and when he was dismissed. Seems he followed his dream of QB and is heading in the right direction...I would like to see what this kid can do.

If JS is a receiver we only have 3 qb's, and only one (JW) with experience who seems to offer any hope. JJ is going to be special, but probably not as a true freshman. I think we need a Nick Marshall badly. Juco QB's with iffy pasts have worked well before.

texas wants to go uptempo now? mack brown cant make his mind up what he wants to do.

Hmm, I wonder who else that rubbed off on? As for Marshall, I was going to say, sounds just like a Cam'ish story of crime, leaving the big school, and renaissance at JUCO. I don't know any details about his dismissal, and he more than likely won't duplicate Cam's performance, but if he's that motivated (like Cam), it could be the best thing for him.

Marshall threw more interceptions than touchdowns this year. Otherwise, his stats were pretty good.

We need to check out some those Butler Community College kids. 84-13 and 57-17. Wow.

In the first game, Butler's backup QB went 3-3 for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns...

Butler went 12-1 and beat Hutchinson 2 times 40-7 and 26-16.

And this team beat them. Look at the scores.

There has been quite a bit of talent that has made stopovers at those schools over the years.

Unless it is a linebacker, I say no more JUCO, we are going to piss some recruits and high school coaches. More worried about the coaches, they help their players evaluate a potential college team as far as the teams roster goes, plugin a few holes ok, but we seem to be getting close to the edge.
