I think this is awful. If the government wants to encourage individuals to go to college then interest rates for federally backed loans should be tied to inflation + 1-2% IMO.

I have a more sinister mindset behind the taking over of student loans but I've expressed it in the past. This case is why my two girls will have little to no student loan debt as long as I can support that effort. I do not want them "owned" by the government over student loans.
