Crazy that practice and the semester are coming to an end! I think the team got a lot done with these practices, though.

GIVING BACK: Auburn football team hosts pediatric cancer patients at Thursday's spring practice

he best part of the day for 6-year-old Anderson Thrower was petting baby chickens with 6-foot-6, 310-pound Auburn offensive lineman Avery Young.

His 9-year-old sister, Avery Thrower, couldn’t get past the smell of the other football players immediately after practice Thursday — “It was good, it was just smelly and sweaty,” she said.

A group of about 20 children — including seven ranging in age from 5-15 who have been diagnosed with pediatric cancer — interacted with the Auburn football team during a visit to Thursday’s practice at the athletic complex with aTeam Ministries, a nonprofit organization based in Birmingham that provides services to families dealing with the disease.

“It was great, it was an opportunity for the kids to see the players, see the coaches, experience all of that,” said Andy Thrower, Anderson’s father and the president of aTeam Ministries. “Because it’s just hard for them to make it to a game based off of treatment (schedules), based off of where they are or how they feel, and it’s hard being around that large number of people for an A-Day game or just a ballgame in general sometimes.”

Five of the children are currently undergoing treatment for various forms of cancer — everything from lymphoma to brain cancer — including 15-year-old Drew Davidson of Oxford, who underwent chemotherapy treatments Wednesday for brain cancer and drove to Auburn later that night just so he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to meet players and coaches from his favorite football team. Two more children had intended to come but couldn’t make it after being forced to go to the hospital Wednesday night.

“It just gave them some excitement, it’s breaking the mold of just thinking about treatment, thinking about going to the hospital, thinking about things that go on with having pediatric cancer,” said Thrower, who is an Auburn graduate.

Some former AU players were working out for Scouts in Auburn yesterday ...

Members of the Atlanta Falcons organization have arrived in Auburn to work out Greg Robinson and two other former Auburn players.

Robinson is rated the best tackle in the upcoming draft class by many experts, and it's possible the former Tiger could be picked up before the Falcons make their selection with the sixth overall pick.

The Falcons may also conduct private workouts with former Auburn defensive end Dee Ford and cornerback Chris Davis.

Robinson is projected to go in the first five p
