The country will break up one day but it will be because of economic collapse. Not ideology.

Well the economic collapse will come as result of ideology. The ones that want to just continue to raise taxes and spend and never stop are having their way right now. That cuts across party lines as both parties like how things are going. They are the ones that have all these grandiose dreams of utopia where everyone is equal and the government can make it happen There are those of us that are tired of it and want to reign in government spending and let people have more control over their own lives. If it does collapse due to that then we can build it back up in the way it was originally intended hopefully.

How would the country split up geographically?

Rather than split, why not move a Muslim next door to every liberal ;D

Maybe put a trailer park full of illegals next to them. We give them California since they've already ruined that state. It's hopeless there.

Logically, that makes no sense. If both parties are trying so hard to "make everyone equal", how do you explain the actual results being the exact opposite?

Now you talk about destroying the United States if you can't have things your way, or exiling/punishing anyone (i.e., liberals) that doesn't agree with your particular political view? Of course you have the right to say such things, that's what makes our country great. But it doesn't seem like a very "American" way to view democracy, political diversity, or tolerance to me. JMHO.

Who's punishing anyone. If anyone is being punished it is the rest of the country with all these mandates that are the brainchild of the liberal/statist mentality. We are the ones forced to deal with the illegals while the ones that push this make damn certain they don't have any of them anywhere around their neighborhood. We are the ones that bear the burden of all these environmental regulations that cost Americans their jobs. If you want all of that then you can have a country all to yourself that is that Utopia that liberals seek. The rest of us just want to live our lives and be left alone but liberals won't let us. They know better than us what to do and by God they intend to force that on us. Liberals have run California into the ground and they want to spread what has gone on there to the rest of the country.

This was a big discussion after the 2004 election about dark blue states joining Canada.

What the above map ignores is that they are several conservative Canadian western provinces that might want out of a new Canada that included several big liberal US states.

And then there is the Quebec problem.for the last 300 years. Quebec sometimes makes noises about separating from the Canadian confederation. In the past that has cause western provinces to make comments about joining the US.

I think it is something to discuss. The country hasn't been this divided since the Civil War. Under the current circumstances, I'd vote for it. The problem with this is the liberal side would quickly collapse under the burden of freebies and the lazy and ignorant. To support this, I offer Detroit, California and Illinois as examples of liberal destruction.

Almost everytime I go to the library on campus i got some far right wing preacher standing outside of it trying to force pamplets on me and disturbing the quiet peace with his screaming. I mean I'm forced to having my taxes pay for the state of Alabama to use a song with the state of Alabama in it for promotion on something that the entire freakng free worl already associates with Alabama. And wtf why does Alabama have to pay rights to the name Alabama. Oh, and the Republican love to subsidize things that contribute to ******* up health, like corn for food chemicals.

Besides how fun would the Republic side be, they would be too prude to have sex (unless they are lying about their values), and since like red states are the fattest they either couldn't get it up or would find their spouse totally unattractive, they'd never go out drinking (unless they are lying about their values), ha.. be terroist attacks all the time cause they would be at total war with like every single other religion on some crusade, lol would be like no working population cause .. no wait they would definitely hire illegal immigrants and outsource jobs to India. Basically it be 10 middle age white dudes sitting around going hey.. lets go to the democratic side and have a few drinks and get some and then come back to the republic side on Monday and be hypocritical in our thinking.

I wonder if this splitting idea will look as dumb sober as it does intoxicated atm.

Exactly.... where is the middle? Which is where a ton of Americans would fall. So there would have to be a fourth choice. Cause you know the extremist would run Republic/Liberal America. Lol even sober I am dead serious with the Texas thing. It would become its own country, I have zero doubts about that. Then you have to question which other states would do the same as Texas. Or maybe one - three states get together and say we are our own country. If the US split it would not be a simple 2 party split of the country.

Though first thing I would do is open a porn/strip club/marijuana store right at the Republican border. That would be bank.

Without the rest of us around to loot they would either do that or maybe they might figure out quickly they can't continue to do that.. It's kind of the same way with Scotland. The Scots are much more left leaning than England is. Now if they vote to go independent they can either keep going for all of those ideas that they support now or move towards fiscal responsibility,If it is the former they will go broke. Being on your own is a very sobering thing.

Hhmmm, interesting interpretation of what it means to be American...the guys who founded us thought it was patriotic and necessary.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

That is a very good counterpoint. However, at the same time, I have to wonder if the political leaders on either side have any respect for those words.
