cooltigger21 0
Since 2011 when the law ending what was essentially compulsory union membership was enacted, enrollment has dropped by 33%. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/10/19/one-third-wisconsin-teachers-have-dropped-union-since-gov-walker-ended/
TitanTiger 20,472
One would think if people were truly interested in what the union had to offer that they'd seek out ways to join. And it's not as if this law made it so that the teacher's union couldn't promote their services and value to teachers.

cptau 169
I think the state of Alabama stopped collecting dues by payroll deduction for the AEA several years ago. The AEA has a difficult time getting its dues now.
MDM4AU 332
The AL bill passed a few years ago but the AEA just recently stopped after the courts finally made them.
TheBlueVue 177
The teachers unions in Wisconsin were spending the union dues promoting democrats without a whit of input from their membership. Believe or not, all teachers are not lefties eager to toe the liberal line. I saw where their membership is down from 98K to roughly 60K. That is a significant and hard to ignore drop in membership. In many instances, unions have far out lived their functional uses. This seems to be one of those instances.
