I have my doubts about her compliance with the orders. She has made a lot of enemies that she didn't need to do all because she wanted to be treated like a hero and worshiped because she "cares"

Here's the thing though...they detained her off the plane. Took her temp after holding her for hours like she'd done something wrong and she began to get upset. Then they did it with a forehead thermometer. She was flushed and it read she had a fever. She pointed this out and asked for an oral thermometer reading. It read normal. They take her to the hospital by police escort where they also take her temp with an oral thermometer. Reading is 98.6 on the nose. She submits to a blood test. Comes back negative. She's asymptomatic but is p[laced in an un-air conditioned tent with a box of sorts as a toilet for three days. She's still asymptomatic.

At this point, I don't blame her and I think the compromise is a reasonable one.

Liberia is desperate need of health care workers. We keep this crap up and no one will volunteer to go to West Africa. We are smarter than this.

I understand the sentiment of statements like that. If the administration and the CDC not gone out of their way to be stupid with their handling of this situation and snippy with their public comments we might not have this situation. How can you trust what they say? How do we know they have the protocols right? They've gone out of their way to insult people and be condescending. Just open up and be honest about it and people might have little less inclination to react the way they have. Don't appoint a political hack to handle this and you'd get a better response.

As for the workers, when you get back don't go out and mingle with people and potentially expose thousands to this disease. Don't act snotty and arrogant and act like you should get a medal for what you did.

Anyone who volunteers to go to any country with multiple ebola cases does so at their own risk and should understand the consequences, namely being quarantined when they come home to protect people in the U.S.

Heck we even quarantined our astronauts returning from the moon as a matter of precaution.

I can't really disagree with what you guys are saying. Do we know how many days the Duncan guy who died was asymptomatic before the symptoms began? Another question, why do asymptomatic military personnel have to spend 21 days in mandatory quarantine when leaving that region of the world?

No we aren't! Why not set up a few vessels off the coast and use them as floating holding, treatment, and research/development options? Or better yet, notify all health care workers that part of their "deployment" to the region includes a 21 day hold?

it's not that big of a challenge unless you are too weak to deal with a few important rules.

Hickox has worked for the last 2 years for the CDC as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Fellow. She thinks the CDC guidelines are good enough.

Makes too much sense. Never happen.
