That was a fun game to watch. There were a few moments we had KT, mason, bowers, granger and Canada on the floor where it was very athletic, very fast and very dangerous.

Also ... Is shamsid-deen craaaaazy quick?

When reed puts on a little more weight and learns how to use that to lean on some folks he will be fun to watch.

Thompson had a great first game. Looks like our Ausie may lose some minutes cuz of it. Same with Waddell and the kid that played some good minutes in Colorado. Lang also had a difficult time the few minutes he played.

These guys are fun to watch. When we are going all out AND playing 10-12 guys ... Fun team

Really great win by the team last night. Led the whole way, Withrop made it close a couple of times but out guys kept fighting and pulled away in the end. If we can keep everybody healthy then we'll be a team to reckon with. With Reed and Thompson in there we have a legit 4 bigs that can all play. They also alow us to rest Bowers a bit with out have too much drop off in play. Reed has work to do to be much of an offensive threat but teams will have to be a lot more careful about going inside with him in there. Throw in mason as another scoring threat and it starts to look like we have a pretty solid rotation of guys. Not sure if Barbee ever had a team with 10 guys who could play.

Team looked much improved since the Clemson game...a few more days of practice for Reed and Thompson has helped things and Mason showing good potential powering to the basket.

Very quiet crowd...are the students still on campus?

Negative, graduation was last weekend.

Figured that...hardly worth playing at home when the crowd is not going to be a helping factor...will need some energy against Xavier I think.

I was really impressed with their effort last night. Here are some personal observations:

  • Bowers is a monster...sick numbers last night (another double-double) but he needs to play full speed all the time and improve from the FT line.
  • Harrell was Harrell...the epitome of consistency (make those FT's KT!)
  • Deen is a blur...love his energy
  • Mason is going to be a stud...looked like he was at maybe 85% last night...very encouraged though.
  • Reed may not score much now, but just his shear size and length changes things for us in the paint...they challenged him a couple of times and he did not disappoint...for the short minutes he played, he pulled 8 rebounds...impressive for a really new guy.
  • Thompson looks like he can play...has a pretty good mid-range jumper and he has size...again something we have lacked for years.

The more time CBP and his assistants have with this group, the better they will get. So glad to see that he is not backing away from tough non-conference opponents. Thinking of making the trip down on Saturday for the game with the X-Men...
