Bag Man Article (Non team specific)

I remember reading this last year. It's a good read. I remember lots of ppl on here thought it was BS.

I personally think some of it might be fabricated for dramatic effect, but I think it's much closer to reality than some want to think.

I wouldn't give it a 100% accurate rating, but really what is in the media these days anyways? I truly believe that every program pays its players in some way..whether its cash, items or helping out the family in some way. Some get caught some don't.

^ I agree. In the SEC which schools are located in what would be considered "college towns"? I'm trying to figure out if I can narrow down which this bagman in the article works for.

Off the top of my head, I can rule out Vandy (lol)

That's a pretty easy one to rule out. Even though if they were successful it would make sense due to the fact they are a private school and all of their funding cannot be looked into by the public.

Yeah that's why I said lol after. Because of the obvious Nashville connection and also the lack of success.

Tuscaloosa isn't considered a college town, right?

Fayetteville?

Auburn certainly is.

Is Starkville?

Oxford?

Baton Rouge?

College Station might be, but I have no idea.

Or what about Gainsville?

Athens?

I don't think Lexington is.

Columbus, MO is not.

I don't believe Knoxville is, either.

Columbia, SC is not.

Hmmmmm......

Most of the schools in the SEC are located in "college towns"

This story has precisely zero proveable facts. It could be entirely true, entirely fabricated, or anywhere in between. Pointless journalizm IMHO.

Pretty sure that was the entire point..the fact that it can't be proved.

possibly Ole Miss...........So much love for that team....This could be the only way they can attract star players....who knows.........It could be other schools and other conferences... It all narrows down to the bag. If it is a grocery bag, you can track this down. If it is a Wallfart bag....they are all over the face of the universe & hard to track down. Likely just a bunch of foolishness for someone who has too much time on his/her hands....

Auburn is the "Mecca" of the SEC and beyond. We do not need to bribe players. Auburn is as good as it can ever forget. Remember this is Auburn and nothing else comes close.

Whole thing sounds like a big bunch of baloney to me. Someone just someone trying to sell an article.

OR maybe you are a bag man and trying to keep your tricky trade in the shadows!

It goes on at Auburn too. Don't kid yourself.

I think this is bogus...with that much money and that many bagmen, somewhere, somehow someone is going to get rubbed the wrong way and channel their inner Logan Young. Too many egos out there for folks to not use the "slash and burn" tactics too against rivals.

Now I wish I had that 10 minutes of my life back...

He forgot to mention the casino chips, untraceable.

Also forgot to mention the small church pastor, Give him the money, mom gets a new kitchen with half the money, Untraceable.

The bagmen have rules, certain amount of money for in state players. If the in state school is not willing to pay the usual and customary then the out of state bagman has free reign without retaliation.

Little doc

Why bring this up again? I got sick of hearing the term four years ago. It was discussed ad nauseum when the article came out last April. Why again?

Interesting read. Who knows if it's true or not...probably a little mix of truth and fabrication. I always find it funny when people think these kids at big time schools (including the one we all love) aren't getting paid by boosters, etc...

And yet some bag men are former suit store owners who now have a sports memorabilia store and don't even have to hide behind a paper sack because the university he boosts is untouchable.
