Great job WEAU. Was curious why Dean and Spraberry were not assigned numbers. Is there situation with team uncertain or maybe they won't or can't become part of team until classes start (or something like that)?

Dean was at the practice - #12. Not sure about Spraberry but he is on the team.

0:17 - Dean (#12) is next to Daniel Pond.

Al.com has predicted Auburn's depth chart. Any thoughts? I personally think Devaroe Lawrence needs to start in place of Russell, but other than that it looks about right.

http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2015/08/projecting_auburns_depth_chart_5.html#incart_river I also think Cowart should start ahead of Lambert.

Clicking over in a second, but why do you think that about Lawrence and Cowart?

Edit: I don't really have any questions about their predictions, although I'm hearing that Jalen Harris has been a pleasant surprise. Maybe we'll have a blocking specialist and a pass catching specialist at TE, who knows.

Because those two players have underwhelmed me and Lawrence has turned into a beast after off season workouts and Cowart has way too much talent not to start.

Just because Lawrence looks the part doesn't mean he will actually play the part too. Sure he looks like a beast but will that translate to the field. Maybe. I don't agree with the Cowart assessment as I know he's learning still and Lambert was a pleasant surprise last year when he was on.

I need to correct myself, Russell will be a very good player after redshirtinglast year, I just think Lawrence could dominate the line.

You know what's even more fun than saying, "We have Byron Cowart"? Saying, "Byron Cowart is the 2nd best guy at his position right now."

There's a popular sentiment over on the Recruiting forum that the blue chip guys we fight bama for have an easier path to playing time at Auburn, and would just fade away into anonymity at bama because they're just that loaded. That's a crock of poopoo. We're not the most talented team in the country, but we're easily in the top 10. Might be flirting with top 5. That means we're really, really talented, which in turn means that even Byron Cowart is going to have to earn his reps. Carl Lawson and Roc Thomas had to, too. Tre Williams still is, and the reviews on the guys he's backing up have been mixed at best.

Russell and Lambert were a couple bad, bad dudes coming in. Now they've been in the system for a minute and are ready to go. Lawrence will get there, and Cowart will get there really fast, but they still have to get there. As others have said, you don't want kids just waltzing into the starting lineup.

Who starts at D-Line is less important then how many can play and be productive. That way the beasts like Lawson can dominate in the 4th Quarter when games are won because they will be fresher. Similar with receivers who starts is less important then productivity and combinations we have a good mix of big receivers some who are big and fast and speedy shifty smaller receivers mix and maxing can create matchup nightmares for defensive coordinator. One key on Auburn offense all receivers need to block for the run.

If it were today, imo Lambert easily starts over Cowart. Three weeks from now who knows but I doubt if a true Freshman is going to beat out a seasoned player as good as Lambert. But the point has been made several times before that, other than the honor, being named the "starter" on the DL is not as important because of the rotation system Garner uses.

The best 7 or 8 will get a lot of PT as Garner keeps rotating fresh players into the game. Often times it will be more important who matches up best with the player next to them, than the level they are on the depth chart.

On the offensive side of their list, I wouldn't pencil in Kozan and Golson just yet. The 2 Seniors, Danzey and Dampeer, are making it close and will have a lot to say about it before it's over.

Kodi Burns, Terrell Zachary and Trovon Reed agree.
