This TED talk is worth 20 min of your time.

Collective compassion has meant an overall decrease in global poverty since the 1980s, says civil rights lawyer Gary Haugen. Yet for all the world's aid money, there's a pervasive hidden problem keeping poverty alive. Haugen reveals the dark underlying cause we must recognize and act on now.

So the next question is why is there so much violence?

Is it the theory of "have and have nots"? Those who having little of nothing steal from those that have just a little more.

Countries like New Zealand have very little violence. Half the NZ crime rate is from their 14% Maori minority.

NZ does not have many police and they are not normally armed. The country is modern, clean, well educated and has little corruption.

Honduras has the highest crime rate in the world. It's just the opposite of NZ

The poor countries often have corrupt police forces who protect the guilty of even rob the citizens they are suppose to protect.

Even in the US when we send the police in to high crime areas, they are accused of being too physical when enforcing the law.

Pull the police out and you have Honduras.

Is there a lack of ethics and morals in the culture of the poor countries?

Education and jobs can be provided, but the people have to accept them.

Just sending in well trained honest police forces will not solve the violence or poverty.

Education in many of the poorest communities in the US is greatly lacking. I've witnessed it firsthand. It is a major problem.
