For the young kids out there Bobby Hunt was the starting strong safety for the Kansas City Chiefs in the first Super Bowl. The Chiefs actually had 4 players from Auburn who started in the first Super Bowl.

Congrat's to 3 great Auburn Men.

AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn greats Chris Gray, Bobby Hunt and Tony Richardson were among eight individuals inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on May 16 at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel.

A native of Homewood, Ala., Gray played tackle and tight end at Auburn. In 1992, he was a second-team All-American and Second Team All-SEC while serving as team captain.

Gray was drafted in the fifth round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, and played four years with the Dolphins, one year with the Chicago Bears, and eleven years with the Seattle Seahawks. Gray holds the Seahawks franchise record for most consecutive starts with 121; and is ninth in total games with 145.

During his career with the Seahawks, he played every position on the offensive line and earned the 2008 Ed Block Courage Award. Gray was an integral part of the offensive line during the team's five year consecutive playoff appearances (2003-2007); including 2005 when the Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl.

A native of Lanett, Ala., Hunt played both quarterback and defensive back for the Tigers from 1959-61. In 1959, he was named SEC Sophomore of the Year, was named to Auburn's Team of the Decade for the 1960's as a defensive back.

Drafted by the Dallas Texans of the AFL in 1962, he was First Team All-AFL his rookie year. Hunt also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals from 1963 to 1969. During his nine year professional career he had 42 interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. He was Second Team All-AFL in 1964 & 1966; and was selected to play in the AFL All-Star Game in 1964. He played in the first Super Bowl with the Chiefs. After his playing career, he was an assistant coach with the Buffalo Bills.

A native of Frankfurt, Germany, Richardson played fullback and helped lead Auburn to an undefeated season in 1993. Richardson lettered from 1990-93 and was named to the Team of the Nineties, before playing 17 seasons in the NFL with four different organizations (Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Jets).

Richardson was a four-time AFC Pro Bowl Selection (2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007) with the Kansas City Chiefs; a two-time second team All-Pro selection (2004 and 2007); and an NFC Pro Bowl Selection in 2008 with the Vikings.

In 2010, Richard was named the Byron "Whizzer" White NFL Man of the Year, and was named to the NFL 2000's All-Decade Team, while serving on the NFL Players Association Executive Committee.

Other members of the ASHOF Class of 2015 include: Jay Barker (football), Evander Holyfield (boxing), Derrick McKey (basketball), Tom Neville (football), and Ennis Whatley (basketball). Nahhh. I am an old man as well. I remember Coach Dye being asked if he was concerned starting Richardson as a freshman. Dye said "if they aren't afraid, I am not afraid. And there ain't no fear in Tony Richardson"...Indeed

Glad to see Tony Richardson get his due. He still has one of the top five AU tackles of all time, i.e. the one he put on James Bostic after Bostic finished off Bammer in '93 with his long touchdown run. WDE Tony!
