Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher indefinitely suspended freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson on Thursday for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Johnson is accused of punching a female FSU student at a Tallahassee bar Wednesday night, sources said.

According to the sources, Johnson was involved in an argument with the woman after she cut in front of him while they were waiting to order drinks at a bar near the FSU campus. Witnesses told police the woman raised her arms and then Johnson grabbed them and punched her in the face.

Johnson, from First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Florida, has not been charged with a crime. Police did not interview Johnson on Wednesday night because he had left the bar. Tallahassee attorney Tim Jansen, who has represented FSU student-athletes in the past, told ESPN.com on Thursday that he was unaware of the incident.

A Tallahassee Police Department spokesman sent a heavily redacted incident report to ESPN.com on Thursday. The incident report redacted the alleged suspect's name and a witness' name. The woman's name was not redacted.

The woman, a 21-year-old FSU student, declined comment when reached by ESPN.com. She was treated by police and security officials at the scene and declined further medical treatment.

Johnson, who enrolled at Florida State in January after graduating early from high school, isn't thought to be one of the main contenders for FSU's starting job this season. Junior Sean Maguire and Notre Dame transfer Everett Golson, who enrolled at Florida State this summer, are believed to be the main contenders to replace 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, who was the No. 1 pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in April's NFL draft.

Winston had his own share of legal issues while at Florida State. He was accused of sexual assault in December 2012, though after a lengthy investigation he was never charged. He currently faces a civil suit in the matter.

In April 2014, Winston was issued a citation after shoplifting crab legs from a Tallahassee grocery store. He was ordered to complete 20 hours of community service and was suspended from playing for the baseball team until he completed the service.

Freshman Deondre Francois of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, also joined FSU's quarterback competition this summer. He was ranked the country's No. 3 dual-threat quarterback and No. 42 prospect overall in the ESPN 300.

Johnson, who was named the 2014 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Football, was ranked the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback as a senior. He passed for 3,710 yards with 47 touchdowns while running for 398 yards with nine scores, leading First Coast High to a 12-1 record last season. He finished his prep career with 11,697 passing yards, 131 touchdown passes and 23 rushing scores.

@IraSchoffel: TPD report says video supports victim account that De'Andre Johnson punched her in face. If true, can't see any way FSU doesn't dismiss him.

How much playing time was he supposed to get this fall? That'll tell you how long he will be suspended.

Pretty much none. With Golson on campus and Maguire as the backup he wasn't going to play unless there was absolute chaos

Pretty tough punishment...suspend a guy's playing time that had no chance of getting any playing time. Jimbo is the biggest freaking joke of a leader I have ever seen. He's not a leader of men, but rather a friend to the stars. The whole program will begin to collapse on itself soon if players are never ever held accountable for anything. What a pathetic joke. I am sooooooo glad we didn't end up with this pushover candy a$$ for a coach.

I agree. He's another win at all costs coach just like bowden was. Eventually it will all crash and burn and do so in dramatic fashion. I'll be enjoying every single second of it. #hatefsu

Doesn't matter, it's a female. He hit her like she was a man. It's not Ronda rousey he's hitting either. In situations like that, he should have told the bartenders that she threw a punch at him and had her excused from the bar.

i don't know the situation but she seemed unhappy with his presence. That was a shot she took and stayed up.

He's done:

Florida State Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher dismissed freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson from the team on Monday night, only hours after the state attorney's office released video showing him violently punching a woman in the face at a Tallahassee bar last month.

Fisher made the announcement in a brief statement released by FSU on Monday night.

Johnson, who was named Florida's "Mr. Football" as a senior at First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Florida, was indefinitely suspended from the team last month, and he was charged with misdemeanor battery for striking the 21-year-old woman during an argument on June 24. He surrendered to Tallahassee police on June 30 and was released on $500 bond.

The video, which was captured by security cameras in a bar near the FSU campus, shows Johnson trying to push past the woman, who was waiting to order at the bar. The woman turned toward Johnson, who grabbed her right arm after she raised it in a fist. The woman raised her knee and swung at Johnson with her left arm, and then he punched her in the face.

According to a Tallahassee Police Department incident report, the woman, an FSU student, suffered bruising near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose.

State attorney Willie Meggs, who decided to charge Johnson after watching video of the incident, said the woman still had a black eye when he met with her last week.

Johnson's family has retained prominent criminal defense and trial attorney Jose Baez, who is best known for successfully obtaining an acquittal in the Casey Anthony murder trial in Orlando.

"While it is clear from the video that De'Andre Johnson was not the initial aggressor, his family wants to take the lead in helping him learn and grow from this experience," Baez said in a statement Monday. "He is currently participating in community service, and faith-based programs focused on battered women, substance abuse, and the empowerment of children.

"De'Andre is extremely embarrassed by this situation and would like to express his heartfelt apologies to everyone, including those who were directly affected, Coach Fisher and his teammates, the entire Florida State University community, as well as his family and friends."

Johnson, who enrolled at FSU in January after graduating early from high school, wasn't thought to be one of the main contenders for the Seminoles' starting job this coming season. Junior Sean Maguire and Notre Dame transfer Everett Golson, who enrolled at FSU this summer, are believed to be the main contenders to replace 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, who was the No. 1 pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in April's NFL draft.
