Moving to London; need help

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a good while but I've been lurking. I'm moving to London 2 weeks before the first game and will be there for the entire season. I was hoping someone on here could help me find a place or way to watch the games while I'm there. Best case would be a London Auburn Club but all suggestions are appreciated. Also general recommendations for stuff to do while I'm there. Thank you guys and mods, I know it isn't directly related to Auburn football but it is related to my ability to watch it so it would be awesome if this thread could stay here for a bit.

Not sure I can help with watching the games but here are a few things that are a must see. Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Court (Henry VIII's digs), the Roman hot springs bathing pool at Bath. There are lots more sites but that should get you started. Have fun!!!

Can't help you with venues to watch(try Facebook for clubs), but you might want to try watching games via different apps.

ESPN app covers all their channels including SECn. NBC sports has their own also. I think CBS is also available. Fox Sports is the only one that I've found that isn't available.

Enjoy your stay. I bet you'll be watching soccer soon enough.

The hippodrome is a casino in the center. Last year they had big parties every Saturday and Sunday nights from around 6-7 pm for college and pro respectively. It's a very good atmosphere with kits of fans. Check it out.

Sky sports shows pro games on Sunday nights.

Pm me and I'll hook you up with a friend who is a big football fan over Facebook. I'm sure he knows all the venues.

In what part of the city will you be living?

This gentleman used to be active on several AU forums.....may be worth trying to contact him through his blog etc.

At the time, he watched the games in some way.

FTR, he moved to a wordpress addy, look for that one on above link if interested...

that would be great! I'll be living in Enfield and going to school in Covent Garden. I'm super pumped but I can't go without my college football. I really appreciate the suggestions and help from all you guys.

Is Dee Ford still an Auburn fan? Not the Dee Ford that played football. There was a Brit that googled her name and found our Dee Ford and she became a big Auburn fan. I think that's the way the story goes. It has been a few years. I think she even came over for a football game. If she's on here, she can give you some tips!

Espnplayer is pretty good to get games. You can get a monthly or seasonal pass. I'm not sure if you can see it from the us or not

If you follow the links on auburn tigers.com you'll come to page to buy the games on radio. Every game is broadcast. Great way to catch the games

I would second these suggestions. History really comes to life when you visit the Tower of London and consider how long the world was ruled from this location and the historical figures that walked those grounds. Same with Bath. To see the ingenuity and creativity of the Romans is amazing and to see what they accomplished 2,000 years ago is mind boggling. I loved my visit to England, now my next bucket list item is to play the Old course up in St. Andrews.

au81bs, I hope you make it to the Old Course. All true golfers need to at least visit and if you can, play. Getting on is the problem if you are not with a group and do not have a tee time. My wife and I went for my retirement and stayed at the Old Course Hotel. Neat place but costly. My room overlooked the landing area for the Road Hole, #17 which I really enjoyed. I did get on but I had to get up at 3:00 a.m. and sit on the Starter's shoulders. In most cases someone does not show up, fortunately for me that was the case. Also, get a pic of yourself on the Swilcan Bridge and visit Jiggers, a pub on the Road Hole. Good luck to you on playing the Old Course , it is truly a unique experience. WDE!!!

Check out the Facebook page NFL in London. It's run by a Canadian guy. They'll have college in Saturday's. I'm usually there a couple times during the season and go here if I can.

Hey I am from Scotland and a big football fan.

I am not sure if you will be able to find a bar that shows auburn games with football becoming big in the UK it is mainly pro football that is on. Sometimes bars will show college gameday because they have the UK licence which shows soccer games and the odd football game comes on but it is usually non SEC.

Your best bet would probably be a stream online buddy.

Actually, people kept tweeting at her (@deeford, the AU player is @deeford_) and so she had to find out what the fuss was about. She was such a good sport about it and really played it up.

Oh, she more than played it up (and apologies, we both put @deeford instead of @dee_ford):

Ah, thanks for the correction. She is hilarious with how she responds to people who get their Twitter handles confused.

I spent a few weeks their with my family last summer and had a blast. Make sure to ride the "Eye of London." The view was great and the ride was easy. I hope the dollar is stronger there now. London can drain your wallet before you can pull it out of the pocket. The food was decent at times but expensive no matter where you ate. My next overseas voyage will be to Italy for the 2nd time. That was a great place to visit and far less costly.

As far as golf goes, I started back playing after an 18 year absence of the game. I have one of the finest 18 hole par 3 courses in all of Western North Carolina in my backyard. The fairways are flush with green grass with very few Bald spots. The greens are almost flawless and fast as they come. We have visitors from all over the country that come and play here. I have yet to meet anyone who has anything bad to say about the course. I have a 2007 Club Car Precedent cart that can hit 20 mph on a straight piece of pavement, and can play 18 holes in less than 2 hours when playing alone. The course is called "Sherwood Forest."

I can drive my cart from home and be on the course in less than 10 minutes. I am not a good golfer, but do have my moments. I can play 18 holes and score on average of 78 strokes per round. I can hit one shot 5 feet from the flag, and take 8 shots on the very next hole. I play the course with a pitching wedge, 9 iron, 38 degree loft metal wood, Callaway 23 degree loft 9 wood, and an Odyssey putter. The longest hole from the men's tee is around 225 yards with the shortest hole being 85 yards.

The name of the course is "Sherwood Forest."

If any of you are planning to come to the mountains of NC, let me know and we can play a round or 2. I am about 30 miles due south of Asheville near a town called Brevard that is 9 miles from me.
