Can't find it to link to the post but I believe his red zone production was superlative, goes back to tight end, fullback and blocking.
Suspect it also reflects a respectable passing game. I think if CSL can produce the impact plays that StatTiger has emphasized in previous posts we will be in good shape.
Little doc
CBS Sports has these stats on their web site. Temple's Red Zone stats for 2011 were not much different from Auburn's. However, Temple's 3rd Down Conversion stats were very impressive.
Overall, I like the hire. CSL seems like a very good quarterback coach, and we needed that. He does not have a lot of history as an OC, but the fact he has been a QB coach forever suggests he is well prepared to be a good OC.
I expect lots of formations, more basic, smash mouth running, more ball control passing, and less razzle-dazzle.
I think CSL's philosophy will be similar to Al Borges'. A pro-style offense which is adapted to the talent on hand. This may be what Chizik was looking for.
