Torn labram. Said he played most of the season with it. Why wait and have it fixed? Sounds goofy to me.

Because the recovery from the surgery would have put him out for the season had he had it done anytime during the season. I suppose the logic is that it's better to have him at 70-80% rather than 0% had he elected to get the surgery mid-season. Having the surgery in the offseason makes sense so he can recover fully and be at 100% for next season, if not for spring practice as well.

Here's to a speedy recovery, Lutz!

I understand that but why wait a month after the season? Rehab is important and the earlier you start the better off I think you'd be. I mean, a labrum tear isn't a super big deal but I just thought the timing was weird.

I too would like to know the reasoning behind waiting until now, if they knew during the season he was gonna get this surgery. :gofig:

Rehab is only like 6-8 weeks but I would think you'd want the most rehab time.

Still ample time to recover before the season.

Two things come to mind relevant to the delay. Perhaps he wanted a break? He's been working non-stop since last summer. Also, this delay allowed time to treat conservatively. Not all labrum tears are created equally, some don't require surgery

They had evaluated, wasn't expected to get worse in season, he decided to continue to play with it and have surgery post season. Maybe he gets to skip the physical portion of Spring because of it...go "all green jersey"... learn whatever changes to his position, do the walkthoughs and heal.

Maybe he had to wait due to Dr. Andrews schedule and for some injuries the doctor likes for the patient to do a little rehab pre-surgery.

I wonder if this happened when he appeared hurt after the one-handed catch & TD?
