Rebirthing of Toomers Corner could be underway.....

Now I am no horticulturist, but I have heard that the effects of Spike 80 df are that the tree foliates but can't photosynthesize. We won't know until a little later though. I hope this foliage grows big and green and doesn't fall off. If Toomer's Trees do survive, as Keever says that they are showing good signs of growth, they will forever live as a symbol of AU's indomitable spirit. Never To Yield!

I have more than passing knowledge of forestry practices, including herbicide action. These things are not intended to work like Roundup and the other "fast burn" herbicides you might spray around your house to get rid of weeds. Spike DF 80 works by, in simplified terms, starving the tree to death. That takes time. It's very slow but also very certain. While I'm hoping for a miracle, I don't think these trees will survive.
I'd like to know who Updyke's accomplice was. Updyke himself wouldn't have had the intelligence or knowledge to select this herbicide and acquire it. Somebody else is involved.

The one sign of "Hope" is the Live Oak species itself. This tree is an evergreen and to see new foliage after losing 99% of it's canopy is encouraging. I agree it's too early to say we are out of the woods....pun intended. lol
