I'm listening to him now and what I'm hearing is a man who is trying to unify the country and act like a president. He's repeating the line "I'm a proud Democrat, but I will govern as an American president and work as hard for those who voted against me as I do for those who did." Thank God the era of Trump is drawing to a close!5 points

To all the folks who don't believe America had lost standing in the world over the last four years, I present this. Fireworks, ringing church bells, and celebrations around Europe and Canada today. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/524962-fireworks-in-london-church-bells-in-paris-as-biden-win-celebrated-abroad?amp&__twitter_impression=true4 points

Because it's not worth a new thread... Sound like anyone we know? I can think of one Jason Isbell fan in particular... Now, back to MAGA participation trophies.3 points

Yea! because Washington was running perfectly before Trump got there. I mean, we had no decades long, aimless wars on third world nations for no particular reason. We had no debilitating debt before Trump. We had no corruption, nor evil lobbyists, nor hungry kids, nor bad educational outcomes, nor people buried in college debt, nor any that could not afford decent healthcare. All that happened in the last 4 years under Trump....ONLY IT DIDNT. This country has been ****** for about 30-40 years at least and as much as we all hate Trump, he didnt do that. We have pols that h3 points

especially when Bama was trying to hire him right!!! that's the problem at Auburn, to busy worrying what the outside world may think of Auburn instead of doing what is best for Auburn?!?!3 points

Hugh Freeze is doing a heck of a job at Liberty. 6-0. I would take him in a minute.3 points

Zeek, I’m definitely no Gus apologist, but ‘aspiring’ to achieve a level of .725 when history says the median is about where Gus is wouldn’t cut the mustard in a statistics class. There is ‘aspire’ and there is historical reality. The talent argument is, at best, speculative considering that throughout the eras it’s pretty much a wash with respect to relativity. I’m not saying accept what we’re seeing now, but it should be based strictly on the ‘aspire’ angle and not what history says is about normal.3 points

LMAO. Why would Seth Williams need "elite" speed? He's a 6'4 receiver - he IS fast relative to his frame. Not every receiver that size can be Randy Moss - thats what makes Randy Moss who he is. Sure every NFL team would love the perfect prospect at every position, but there is a realistic tradeoff that is baked into scouting and evaluation. NFL football isn't Madden where you can just create the perfect prototype for every position. Schwartz is the perfect example of a player that NFL coaches would shake their head at in terms of how we utilize him. NFL coaches aren't Gus Malzahn - j2 points

I have no problem with meeting actual "conservatives" half way for the good of the country. But, our divide comes from the racist and immoral behavior of (many, if not most current) members of a political party - Republicans. This is exhibited by their unquestioning and traitorous support for a would-be autocrat. And it's ongoing: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/11/06/the-election-that-broke-the-republican-party-434797 .......“This is something out of the Pinochet regime. These Republicans who are indulging the president, they all know better. That’s what I2 points

Here's the thing, if Auburn were to hire Freeze, and he comes here and starts winning football games nobody will give a damn what he did in the past. Oh sure, Gary might mention it on the CBS broadcast as we are lighting up the scoreboard, but what's new?2 points

As soon as I realized I was pulling for Clemson to win, I knew they were doomed.2 points

Holy Cow, but Notre Dame has a good offensive line! Gotta be one of - if not the best - OL in the country. (God, I hope I live long enough to see the OL serve as the foundation of our offense . Do we really need to pay anyone - much less an offensive "genius" - $7 million a year to figure that out? And Clemson is loaded! Talent at every position, including freshman. Freshman QB has a cannon. Their receivers are just ridiculous. As much as I dislike him, I have to admit Dabo has built a Bama-like recruiting machine - no need to re-build, just re-load. That's what two NCs in2 points

It's not really right that they are trailing in NCs just because they are better at math.2 points

Dang right and with our former third string QB. I would take him or Luke Fickell any day or the week.2 points

Actually, I'm gonna walk it back. I see what you're saying. But the main point is that the people paid to lead need to lead. And when the GOP nominates a legitimate candidate again, the people who vote for the GOP candidate won't earn so much derision.2 points

Yeah, but he could come in late in the 4th quarter, and practice handoffs with the best of em.2 points

I give Clemson credit for letting that young kid run the offense. Gus would never trust a freshman to run the offense like that in a big game or throw over the middle. He couldn't even trust Stidham against Clemson.2 points

There's one line that will be remembered and quoted for a long time in that speech. "We will not lead by the example of our power, but by the power of our example."2 points

Truly a beautiful speech. For three seconds I actually believed he could get Nancy and Mitch to meet in the middle.2 points

He's been supporting Biden for a while, and Biden's position that he'll tax the top bracket hasn't changed. Pretty sure he knows that his taxes might go up with his decision cause he isn't an idiot, and he decided to support Biden anyway. Imagine picking a president not totally based on selfish reasoning.2 points

It'll be nice to have a honest, decent person in the AG office. Like his boss, lapdog William Barr will go down in history as the worst, most corrupt person to ever hold his position. He's probably shredding papers as we speak.2 points

This is one of the most exciting aspects of Biden winning. The list of possible candidates is filled with competent, experienced people.2 points

saban isn’t a good game day coach. He has been out coached on many Saturdays. He is an excellent program coach. Their recruiting and player development is second to none. That’s why they are so good every year. Cousin Eddie, on the other hand, is a very good game day coach. His game planning and X’s and O’s make him very dangerous on any given Saturday.2 points

That would be great. I'm watching UF vs UGA early in the 3rd and UF up by 20. I 100% believe that if Dan Mullen has equal or better talent he will beat Gus 100% of the time. So even if we catch LSU and Bama at home and win the SEC West UF would have a cake walk to the playoffs. Edit to say talking about future years. Not this one that has already been wasted.2 points

Here's my take. College football, in our conference especially, is a different animal from what it was in the 80's, 90's, or even the early 2000's. We have at least three of our major rivals who have drastically stepped up their game. The question is, is Auburn committed to putting forth the effort to keep up? If not, then we should be able to maintain mediocrity for far less money. Gus is paid championship caliber money, and has failed to produce championship quality results. No other way to spin it.2 points

Who is ready to go versus who is probably going anyway is two different discussions.2 points

2/3 of posters picked Auburn to lose to LSU. Then it was a blow out win. Now it’s being down played because LSU sucks.....we are allowed some optimism..2 points

Could just be that he thought someone else offered the team the best shot to win rather than something he didn't see in Malik... On edit... I'll also note that during Malik's days at AU, there were no "insiders" giving reports that they or anyone else though that he should be "the guy" at QB. Happy for him and how it's worked out at Liberty. Not surprised that some want to just use that good fortune as another opportunity to bash Gus.1 point

I just read an article on espn.com about Steve Sarkisian. Sounds like he would be a great head coach choice. Anyone have any intel as to whether he would be interested in Auburn?1 point

The are people looking at every vote in every county with a magnifying glass. Both sides have lawyers looking at everything. If there is provable fraud then it will be found. I do think it would be good to have uniform voting in all of the states, but the rules have been the same both candidates. I hope that Biden really does try to bring unity, but that remains to be seen.1 point

I don’t want to hear PJ Fleck’s name anymore associated with the Auburn search. Why pay $20 million to get rid of a guy when you’re just going to replace him with someone equivalent or worse than what you have.1 point
