  1. 4* PG Tyrell Jones (Signed NLI) 4* SF Isaac Okoro (Signed NLI) 4* PF Jaylin Williams (Signed NLI) 3* C Stretch AkingBola (Signed NLI) 3* SF Allen Flanigan (Signed NLI) AUmay be done adding recruits from the high school level. If any additions are made it is expected to come from the transfer market after the season. AU currently has the #12 class on the composite.
  2. Statistically, Texas Tech came into the weekend ranked #1 overall in defense. If we know anything about a Tubbs coached team is that they well play defense and play it well.
  3. Johnson spent a couple of days on campus this week.
  4. He took the ACT instead of visiting Mich today.
  5. Agree. The program is getting back to what it was in the mid-late 80's. With the recruiting services and the round the clock analysis, ratings, speculation, it seems like we are putting together the best classes we ever have. However, in reality, Pat Dyes recruiting from the 1983 class through about 1989 was just as strong, maybe stronger. Those classes did win 5 SEC titles (including 1993), 3 straight SEC titles, a NC in 1983 and 1 play away from a possible NC in 1988. The way it is shaping up though, this 2013 defensive class looks to have the potential to be one of our strongest ever for sure though. Not to take anything away from the job that Dye did in the 80's because it was a remarkable run, but I believe Chizik is doing as good a job under tougher circumstances. Even though Tenn and Fla are down, the SEC has never been stronger as a whole. Recruiting is as tough as it's ever been with all of the competition in our traditional recruiting grounds. Chizik is sharing a state with the "best coach in cfl" and is holding his own very well. Not to mention having to compete with the other championship winning coaches in this league and the long tenured guy like Richt. You have a point, but to say that Chizik is doing a better job is to completely underestimate how far down we were at the end of the Barfield era. Dye, who started at AU in 81 (and signed some kid named Vincent in 82), picked Auburn up from that, threw off the stigma of being in the same state as UAT, beat Bear Bryant in his final Iron Bowl, and THEN proceeded to dominate the SEC landscape over the rest of the decade. The difficulties of going head to head with Bear in recruiting were numerous; Nick Saban isn't the best in college football now, as so many bammers like to say, but Bear WAS the best in his time in Tuscaloosa (even if "best" could legitimately be put in front of "at cheating"). He's the one who taught the NCAA where the loopholes in the rules were because he kept exploiting them to keep his program, just barely, off probation. Oh yeah, Dooley was still at UGA, too, and they won their last national championship the year before Dye showed up. Herschel Walker won the Heisman in 82. No argument from me. I can't take anything away from what Coach Dye did at AU and yes he did inherit a mess. Plus we get to look at PD's complete resume versus 3 seasons for GC. Chizik inherited a mess as well and did a great job of weathering the storm from a roster standpoint and not only win, but win big while in the middle of a major rebuilding process. For me at present time, I give slight nod to GC based on what he's been able to do while this league has a stranglehold on college football. He handled himself through the media firestorm like a champion. I don't know if i've ever seen another coach handle a situation of that magnitude as well as he did. Coach Dye has his name on the field and helped make AU great. Chizik has taken that baton and is making all of us proud.

  7. I agree. It's rare to hear a hs junior wide receiver talking about blocking. That speaks to being a team first guy. Every program needs team first guys.
  8. Article from Miami Rivals states he has them number 1 and AU or Tenn number 2. The article was dated one day after BCW but I don't know if the quotes they used were old. The kid is all AU right now regardless of what the Canes have to say about it. He and JJ will be teammates on the college level as well.
  9. This kid is all AU at this point. He also has offers from FSU, Clemson and Ole Miss. AU sits at the top of his list. He will not leave the state to play and will end up being one of our early commits for the '14 class. He nearly committed a couple of weeks ago. Once he sees a few more campuses this summer, he will pull the trigger.........for the good guys.
  10. fwiw, I had heard literally a few days ago that getting Rodgers would help with Bigelow....but after seeing what Jonesy said and just kinda reading the tea leaves here with Montravious Adams, I don't see him leaving USC. Okay I missed it. What did Jonesy say?
  11. http://rivals.yahoo.com/auburn/football/recruiting/player-Ryeshene-Bronson-132616 He is cousin to both Jordan Diggs(USCe) and Sammy Watkins(Clemson). Likes the cocks but wants to visit AU.
  12. Of all of the defensive tackles we have, JW was the most consistent at getting in the backfield. He didn't make a lot of tackles, but he disrupted a ton of plays. This is while playing nose guard taking on double teams. With that experience he's gotten the last two years combined with the new attack mentality up front, I believe he will blow up this year. Being able to pair his ability to penetrate with Ford and Lemonior, i'm looking for and All SEC type of year from JW.
  13. I agree Red. As most of us 'cruitin junkies have noticed, there is a lot of focus already being put the '14 class. I think it's only a matter of time before the commits start coming in for that class. It also means that the coaches feel pretty comfortable about the current '13 class. I don't know if i've ever seen the grass greener on the plains. I really feel good about this program in the hands of Gene Chizik.
  14. The people that say the coaches should wait before they take commits from the unranked/not highly ranked guys this early in the process will be the same ones calling for the coaches head once the kid goes elsewhere and blows up. As soon as they find out the kid wanted to be at AU it will be meltdown city. The coaches should trust their own evaluations versus the rating services or some other form like these message boards. If you want to build the team based on ratings services, lets just fire coach Luper as RC and hire MF, JH, BM, JL or better yet hire one of the subscribers from one of the ratings services to do the job. I'm mean how hard is it to look at the stars and just pick based on who has the most and who's creating the most chatter. I'm sure this fan base will support that decision.
  15. lobster? Nah.....All he got was some bbq ribs($1 to Willie Williams) and he washed it down with fresh squeezed lemonade.
  16. I hate to bring it up so what does that mean for the McGill-Toolen Smith kid? Are we recruiting him as a receiver or going to back off on him now? I believe he will play on offense. In his interview after BCW, he mentioned the coaches having a package for him at the QB position to get the ball in his hands. I don't see him playing defense.
  17. And have you ever played an organized sport? O' O' O' O'.......Pick me???????
  18. Clemson, Texas, OSU and FSU in the same season? How will that season ticket package cost. :'(
  19. I don't care about winning the game on paper or the star gazing when they get off the bus. I care about these kids coming in, doing things the right way and winning the game on the field. I don't wanna walk around town talking about the "Crutinship Trophy." I wanna walk around talking about the SEC and BCS trophies.
  20. I think it's a possibility, but a slim one. I don't see us doing much in that dept. I do see a lineup consisting of Nova, Johnson and Foster on the field together in a 4-3. I think all three of these guys are athletic enough to play inside or out. First we have to get both TJ and RF signed and then we'll worry about that "problem."
