  1. I am too busy to read up on this. Does anyone have the rundown on which of the "new" games will be home and which will be away?
  2. We never flattened the curve! We were flattening the curve. We were so close, but a bunch of ignorant people cried it's hurting the economy and we had to open. So we did. Then a bunch of ignorant people refused to wear masks and social distance when we did open. And here we are. Now the economy is going to continue to tank AND we have an out of control virus. Your hope that this virus will burn itself out is just that. HOPE. Look at the science. Research it. don't just try to push your myopic views. You need to wake up . Snap out of you tunnel vision and see the post recovery issues that YOUNG people are getting. Even asymptomatic cases. You seem to think your need for entertainment is more important than other's quality of life. remind me where that curve was "for the most part" flat.
  3. Wear a mask. Lee Co. is sucking right now. we are only at the second generation of spread from the 4th of July. Next week is going to be ugly!
  4. LMAO that you think hospitals are adding cases for profit. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! .
  5. **** this a**hole spreader. someone wished death upon him, but this simpleton is pushing to actually spread death.
  6. NCAA update. nothing really new. attitude is a little less optimistic.
  7. isn't positive rate the total positive tests/ total number of tests. If you have two people and one has covid, and you test them both the positive rate would be 50%. But if you tested the negative person over and over the positivity rate would drop.
  8. Florida isn't doing as bad as the worst hit state in the country so everything must be cool. Are you trying to convince us or yourself? FL VVVVV NY VVVVV LEON Co. VVVVVV
  9. Some reports say if you were positive you were only counted one time. If you were negative you were counted every time you took a test. that makes the positivity rate go way down. Errors are going both ways. most will cancel each other out. The numbers are probably more accurate than people think.
  10. Stay strong, keep up the fight. I can take adults getting sick. I used to work at Vanderbilt U Hospital in Nashville. I had seen some sickening and horrifying things. People coming in in pieces. But I have never been to the premi ward. About 8 months in, I had to go to the primi and sick baby floor. There was a baby there with "water on the brain". His head was as big as a basketball. His little body was laying contorted because of the size of his head. I have never seen anything like it to that point. It absolutely destroyed me. That kid didn't do anything to deserve that. I was not strong enough to deal with it. I quit the next day. I regretted quitting for a long time, but still think of that baby every now and then, and it rips me to shreds. I have a great appreciation for what you do..
  11. You have to realize there are more new daily cases in Florida than all of Europe. Texas is about the same in daily infections as all of Europe. Still not only about death... For every one person who dies: 19 more require hospitalization. 18 will have heart damage 10 will have lung damage. 3 will have strokes. 2 will have neurological damage that leads to chronic weakness and loss of coordination. 2 will have neurological damage that leads to loss of cognitive function. “but it’s only 1% fatal!” 1% of the US population could die. That would be .... 3,000,000 people dead. 62,000,000 hospitalized. 59,000,000 people with heart damage. 32,000,000 people with lung damage. 9,000,000 people with strokes. 6,000,000 people with muscle weakness. 6,000,000 people with loss of cognitive function. Yes this is worst case scenario, but even if 1/4 of the US population eventually contract the virus the numbers are still unsustainable. then you have already know about comorbidities : just the children.... 18.5% of U.S. children between ages 2 to 19 suffer from obesity, or about 13.7 million children. About 6 million children under age 18 have asthma, according to the CDC, And the CDC says about 193,000 people under age 20 in the U.S. have diabetes.
  12. today's Alabama numbers are another record. It would be like California having ~400 fatalities, Florida having ~200 fatalities, or Texas having ~275 fatalities in one day. this is based on yesterdays numbers....... The large numbers are hard to perceive. Let's make the large numbers easier to picture .... remember being in class at Auburn? picture 20 students in the class. picture 2 of those classes next to each other. That is how many people have died of Covid just in Lee Co. so far. ( 38 deaths) take those two classes and multiply that by 10. (20 classes) then double that. ( picture 40 classrooms full next to each other.) and add 16 more classes (56 classes) That is how many people have died in Alabama of Covid (1,183) add 29 more classes (85 classes now) that is how many people have caught Covid JUST in LEE Co. ! (1,750 cases) Now, picture those 85 full class rooms . Picture them well because the numbers are about to get big. 85 full classrooms.... . Take that image of 85 full classrooms and multiply that by 10. (850 classes) Then triple that. (2,550 classrooms) Now add a teacher and graduate assistant into every classroom. This is still short of how many people have caught Covid in Alabama. (57,255) and this is going on in every SEC college county and every state. in the last 24 hours 107 more "classrooms full" have contracted the disease in Alabama.
  13. "We put a medical advisory group together in early April with the question, 'What do we have to do to get back to activity?' and they've been a big part of the conversation," Sankey said. "But the direct reality is not good and the notion that we've politicized medical guidance of distancing, and breathing masks, and hand sanitization, ventilation of being outside, being careful where you are in buildings. There's some very clear advice about -- you can't mitigate and eliminate every risk, but how do you minimize the risk? ... We are running out of time to correct and get things right, and as a society we owe it to each other to be as healthy as we can be."
  14. now I hope they are talking about the same vaccine.
  15. Don't worry, the games will all be pay-per view for all non students. /s
  16. I am hoping this is not fake , exaggerated or rushed news.
  17. 2-38%. I'll agree with that. every little bit counts. If one masks stops you from infecting even 1 person, that can stop a line that could become a chain reaction of exponential growth. That one person may pass it to 4 people and those pass it to 4 each. This is what is happening with so many not wearing masks.
  18. This corona virus IS DIFFERENT. What has changed is knowledge. masks were not ineffective 3 months ago. We did not know how contagious it is esp from asymptomatic people. quote from above surgeon general link above... "It’s important for people to understand that we now know 40%-50% of cases of coronavirus are spread asymptomatically, and that’s different than any other coronavirus we’ve experienced before,” (Surgeon General) Adams said. “It means you can have no symptoms -- no cough, no fever -- and still be someone who is spreading the disease.” The virus has to be present for someone to catch it. Pulling it off to scratch your nose would most likely be fine unless someone around you is shedding. you need o consider the risk of pulling a mask compared to who is around you. If touching your dirty face mask and then touching your mouth is dangerous, just think how many germs the face mask saved you from in the first place. I do not thin people need to wear a face mask all the time, just when interacting in public. If you trust you coworkers, no need to wear a mask, until an outsider walks in the office, or interoffice meeting etc. Face mask will not help you or others much if you keep pulling it off. think of the mask as a chain link fence. someone is going to shoot a cannon full of thousands of ping pong balls at you. The balls fit through the fence, but only a few actually will, and most of them will not travel as far. IF I am behind a fence also, the ping pong balls will have to go through 2 fences to get to you. Now add distance where there will be fewer ping pong balls that make it that far. So, cannon = cough , the balls (germs) have to go through on chain link fence (mask 1) , then travel 50 yards (6 ft for cough) Then go through another chain link fence (mask 2) then be inhaled. at worse this will save a few cases from being passed on in a town, which will keep dozens from getting it down the road through contact with those. First it is not just about deaths. Plenty of documented cases of issues lasting months after recovery. More every day. I've gone over this a bunch of times, but there are things worse than death. This is not the flu. 80,000 flu deaths in a year compared to 133,000 in less than 6 months and growing.. People don't walk around with the flu for weeks showing no symptoms. It is pretty obvious if someone has the flu within a day or 2. They are pretty easy to avoid. Masks would help with the flu also and a lot of other viruses and diseases. I am glad we do have the right to choose. Thank you for wearing a mask even though you are not sure it helps. Better safe than sorry, AND I WANT FOOTBALL!
  19. A LOT has changed in the last 4 months. . Our basic understanding of the virus is growing. Intelligent, logical people are seeing the effects of their ignorance, and changing their mind. They are not basing their information on something that was said over 4 months ago (see your surgeon general quote above.) So you want to listen to the SURGEON GENERAL, eh? Listen to him well...... Mid June: He said face coverings lead to less asymptomatic spread of the virus, which leads to more places opening sooner. "Exercise and promote your freedom by choosing to wear a face covering!" Adams said in the tweet, which also included a photo of him in a mask. Public health officials have emphasized the importance of face coverings amid the country's reopening, given that people without symptoms could unknowingly transmit Covid-19. 6 days ago "If you want the return of college football this year, wear a face covering," he said. "If you want a chance at prom next spring, wear a face covering. ... If you want to go on spring break next March, next April, wear a face covering." 2 days ago: “Here’s the challenge. If you make something mandatory, particularly the younger age groups we’re talking about, many of them will rebel and do the exact opposite. I think it’s more important from a health perspective that we help people understand why these are important and that we help them understand how they benefit from wearing them,” he said while holding a mask. “If people understand why they’re doing it, they’re going to be more likely to comply. If it’s mandatory, they’ll only do it when someone’s watching.” 2 day ago: But earlier this week, Adams said, “Please, please wear a face covering when you go out.” So what’s changed? Adams said we didn’t realize in March how easily the virus could spread from asymptomatic people. “It’s important for people to understand that we now know 40%-50% of cases of coronavirus are spread asymptomatically, and that’s different than any other coronavirus we’ve experienced before,” Adams said. “It means you can have no symptoms -- no cough, no fever -- and still be someone who is spreading the disease.” n the hospitals. told you last time that yu tried to use that excuse that their numbers were was growing the hospitals would be filling up soon. What is your deal with OLD news anyway ? Yesterday:
  20. You need to use critical thinking and logic do parse info from anywhere. It is not what news broadcast is saying, it is what the doctors are saying. the same info is being reported from multiple sources. Not just mainstream media news. Are you saying because it is from CNN that the doctors are lying? you do not think hospitals are being over run in Texas because it was reported on CNN? That is delusional.
  21. B.S. Masks and distancing more than "slightly help". This has now been proven. But we can't have a**hole spreaders running around not following protocols. Control doesn't mean eliminating the virus. It means having few enough cases to contact trace so we can get the "contagious people" warning so they can isolate early. (Which we blew 5 weeks ago when we opened.) We almost had control but we opened too early. Other countries have gotten control A few other states are getting control. It is completely out of hand in Alabama, Fl, TX, AZ and most of America because a bunch of a**holes refuse to social distance and wear masks. Lee county alone was at under 550 cases in the first 3 months of all this. In the last 1 month, Lee county has added more than 800 cases. 1,359 people have had it or have it in Lee Co. 39 people a day are being diagnosed just in Lee county over the last week or two. (that is more than a full class at auburn per day!) At the end of full lock down, we were averaging 4-6 people a day being diagnosed. 38 people have died. Death rate per diagnosis in lee county is pushing 3%. The numbers are getting worse exponentially. WE NEED TO SLOW IT DOWN NOW. I want football. Wear a mask and distance yourselves. Don't be an a**hole spreader.
  22. There are few studies saying that immunity after having the virus is sketchy. There have been reports around the world of people catching the virus twice. Some of hose have been reported to have been a single infection that went "dormant" or was hidden someplace like the brain or testicles and re-emerged. Some are documented cases of recovery and second infection. The following link is not a study, but word from Braves manager about his payers. To me this quote is just as telling as a scientific study. Snitker said concerns will remain even after the four players return to workouts. "Guys have gotten it more than once," Snitker said. "We're going to have to be careful all year, and it's going to be the new normal for the next three months."
  23. Your depraved indifference to society and human life is disgusting. Why are you still arguing against lock down? we have not been locked down in weeks? You are just stuck on this all or nothing kick. We will only need to shut down again if people don't start social distancing ans wearing masks. The most painless solution is what we are trying to do. SOCIAL DISTANCE and WEAR A MASK. Businesses can open, lives will be saved. Follow the protocols and carry on. How can you be so against that? The economy will bounce back strong. BUT, only when we have control of the virus. If we do not get control soon, our economy will sink to levels you have not even imagined. opening up without controlling the virus will cause more damage than being shut down. 50 countries are now open to trade and travel. all have left america out of their "trade pact". More than that have either banned US travelers or implemented a 14 day quarantine for US travelers. Don't be an economic alarmist.
