Would hiring Freeze as oc be a cure

I'm a believer in Hugh Freeze as a coach. His off the field issues speak for themselves but strictly as coach? Freeze is very good. He beat Saban in back to back years (with a different QB each time)and knows offense. Would it be a long time hire? No. The absolute longest I could see him staying would be three seasons and that may be a stretch. But, the offensive foundation he could build in that time period would be noticeable. Muschamp was only here one season and left a foundation that Kevin Steele built on without whole sale changes. I'm all for Freeze as OC.

Who would replace Malzahn (merged threads again)

Out of the above list, Venables has the pedigree and background to be the next big time coordinator that becomes a good HC.

    Hypothetically - HC

Seems like we're at a rough time to really be looking to hire a new coach. A lot of the up and comers have already landed at major programs (Kirby to Georgia and Tom Herman to Texas) and a lot of the name recognition head coaches seem to be settled in at solid situations. I know a lot of people are still Bobby Petrino fans (the joker wins everywhere, and does it with player development) but he never once beat Saban, even when he had Arkansas running at full tilt. I guess right now if I had to take a shot on a coach that doesn't have any type of baggage attached to his name, it would have to be Brent Venables the DC at Clemson. Look at the coaches he's worked under and you'll see the likes of Bill Synder, Bob Stoops, and he's been at Clemson when they loss a narrow game to Bama and then actually beat Bama for the natty the next year. Some people will frown because he doesn't have Head Coach experience but IMHO he checks all the boxes you want for a Head Coach. He can recruit, he's a defensive guru, and he's been around college ball a long time and has the connections. Hire Venables to run the show, and throw 1.2 Hugh Freezes way to come in and run the offense for a few years. Just my two cents.

What do we do on offense now?

Taking away his ethical decisions and off the field drama and judging him solely on his coaching expertise, he's just a great coach overall.

I saw the Briles boys mentioned. IIRC Hugh Freeze is sitting around by the phone.

Davis is just so shifty. He needs to touch the ball 10 times a game, minimum.

LSU using 7 in protection to neutralize our rush.
  11. Defense looks dominating at times. Clean up the penalties and clean up the run blocking. Really pleased with pass protection. Stidham is the GOAT. War Eagle

    Swapping us over now
  17. Had a dream about this game last night and I'm feeling pretty good about it. Will give Peterson and his program respect and I expect they'll come out ready to play ball and make a statement. I think it'll be a defensive slugfest from start to finish with this being game 1 on the season mixed in with a lot of talent on both squads and pride on the line. Washington scores first, Auburn's offense struggles to find it's rhythm (new o-line gelling and new tailbacks) but our defense keeps this game in striking distance. Let's face it, there is talent on the west coast, but where as Washington may see one or two guys on the d-line a game that are game changers, Auburn is going to line 4 game changers up from the start of the game and we're gonna rotate and I just don't think our boys will be sucking air come the 4th quarter. After trailing by a few points for the game, Stidham swings the momentum our way with a late touchdown to put us followed by the defense getting a nice strip sack of Browning late in the 4th for the only turnover of the game setting us up on short field. Auburn puts the game away late. Auburn 28 Washington 17
  18. I am shocked our O-line is being whipped like this.

    Report: Malzhan staying

Well now that he's staying, perhaps he can convince some of our NFL talents to stay one more year, too. His best recruiting job could be keeping Stidham, Johnson, Holland, and Davis for one more year.
  20. Weather the storm. I think too many people were expecting Auburn to roll UGA a 2nd time. Get a stop and score. UGA will eventually make mistakes.
  21. UGA knows they are outclassed across the lines. Doing anything they can to stay in this game. Dirty bunch.
