    SEC is garbage this year...

That is a :homer:/> statement if I ever saw one. Sorry bud, but Clemson, UNC, FSU Pitt, Iowa, Baylor, Ok state, ND Mich St, Michigan, and Oklahoma are all teams that could beat Bama or Florida and do so easily. The B1G, ACC and Big 12 all have teams playing better than most of the SEC. Heck AAC is looking better than the SEC this season. About the only P5 conference that looks worse than the SEC is the PAC12. And quite frankly, Stanford, Utah or UCLA could beat Bama on any given day. Face it, the SEC dominance is done. Its the SEC that really needs rebuilding. :-\/> UNC lost to USCE. Oklahoma lost to Texas and took UT to 2 OT FSU lost to a Georgia Tech team that has 3 wins. Iowa has played 1 ranked team all year.

    TCU @ Minnesota

Vandy is now the first/only SEC Team to lose to a C-USA School. At least that is what the announcers said. But didnt UAB beat LSU as C-USA? I really dont keep up with UAB tho.Mason, he is gone. That Vandy team had no fight and they are not well coached. Seriously, this might be one of the worst Vandy teams in years. I don't think that is true. I know they like to forget anything unflattering about bama's coach, but I think UAB was C-USA when they beat LSU in 2000. what conference was ULM in 07? They said most recent was UCF beating UGA in a 2010 bowl game

    Gus on ESPN

An undefeated Auburn team was more deserving than EITHER Oklahoma OR USC, because in spite of USC being clearly superior to Oklahoma, Auburn's strength of schedule vastly trumped that of either team. We beat defending national champion LSU, undefeated Tennessee (at a packed out Rocky Top...that was extremely quiet for all but maybe the first half of the first quarter), a Georgia team whose only loss had come in a nail biter (after the starting QB had already gotten hurt), and then beat Tennessee AGAIN in the SEC Championship. All of those teams were in the top 10. However, the talking heads all focused on the strength of the bottom of the schedule, because we don't get to play in a conference that has a built in range of bad-to-middling teams with no more than 3 legitimate contenders to afford the luxury of playing a heavy out of conference schedule. Of course, I don't think AU was clearly better than USC, I just believe we had the better case for playing in the national championship game. But had it been AU-USC, as it should have been...it would have been one for the ages, I believe. However, every bit of that is completely beside the point, because no matter what, there was no way to get all of the truly deserving teams in. In 2011, however, one loss Okie St was CLEARLY more deserving of playing for it all than one loss Alabam for two reasons: 1) They won their conference, and 2) They hadn't already played and lost to the other team in a two team championship game. ^^^This

    Who do we close with?

Even if the exactitude is even more arbitrary than a round number? Oh no. When a man says "53%" there's nothing arbitrary about that. 53% tells us that guy KNOWS STUFF! If someone says, for instance, 60/40 then we are left to wonder, but 53% is NOT to be quibbled with! :)/> Word. Number. Letter Integer

Whoa, Hoss! Stop right there. Please feel free to avail yourself the use of the myriad offerings provided by the King of all things statistical, StatTiger. For starters, peruse the After Game Report Card. This defense is a fire-engulfed 11 car pileup. What he said. Show me the win percentage of teams that turn it over 3 times and have a blocked fg returned for a td. You can't say we lost only because of our defense. "I don't think our defense is as bad as everyone says it is. This game was not lost because of our defense." That's you, right? I think the report card pretty much confirms that the defense was very much the problem here. There were offensive mistakes, for sure, EVERYBODY makes mistakes and sometimes you make more than one, two or three, but the rest of the team has to be there when you're really screwing the pooch. This offense has been pretty consistently scoring in the 30s since CGM got here. And they almost pulled this one out despite those miscues. All they needed was an average game from an average D. They didn't get it. To lose by 3 with giving up 7 on special teams and having a -2 in the turnover battle, and give our offense 2 opportunities to get the game winning td. As much as everyone hates it here, but the defense didn't lose us the game. Yes, stat tiger shows the defense not performing well, but he doesn't include one of the most important stats, turnovers. I guess we'll have to just agree to disagree about that. And that's OK. God knows I've had plenty of these conversations recently that have ended that way. Maybe you're even right the offense just needs to do things better. More stats pointing toward offense troubles. Incidentally, this thread is about Ellis Johnson, presumably about whether he is coaching well enough for the Auburn Tigers to stay on. Since this loss is really equally distributed amongst all members of the team, should we stay the course then, and say Ellis Johnson's position should be safe after the season ends? In case you were wondering, here are some stats on how important winning the turnover battle is. http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/content/nfl-teams-that-win-turnover-battle-have-72-17-record/26247/ I understand this is NFL data, but I would guess the results would be similar in the NCAA.Again, our offense had a great day moving the ball, but we still turned the ball over too much. It is unfair to say the game was lost because of the defense. We could have been better in every phase of the game. Offense: turnovers. Special teams: blocked fg returned for a td Defense: big plays and penalties

I don't think our defense is as bad as everyone says it is. This game was not lost because of our defense. Here are my reasons. 1. We gave them a 14 point lead. 7 came off the fumble on our first offensive possession. 2. We gave up a blocked fg returned for a td 3. Our defense was the reason we were able to make a comeback after the slow first half, forcing turnovers and limiting their tds. 4. Our defense gave our offense 2 opportunities to win. We just didn't get the job done unfortunately. I personally think our defense will not be as good statistically as in the past because our offensive pace gives our defense more possessions to defend and less time to recover and prepare for the next drive. Also since it is known we are going to score, teams are going to open their playbok and throw everything at us offensively, whereas if you are playing teams like lsu or bama, teams will focus on field position and limit their playbook.

I'd also like to go after BK hard. Having it your way, huh? I mean that stare is just so dreamy. Can't see the pic, but am hoping it's a picture of the King. I actually prefer Wendy's. You gotta prefer Wendy's. Definitely. But my current favorite 'commercial' girl is the one from the AT&T commercials. The kia girl from the world cup commercials

    I think bama loses two...

Five losses? I would love to become the biggest texting troll to my bammie friends, but it's hard to picture that with the poo-putt schedule they have this season. So who are the fab 5? Both Mississippi schools, us, LSU, and florida?
  18. I'm in complete and total agreement with this! We need more BIG receivers. We need playmakers regardless. Our next 3 QBs are very prolific all we need are guys that get open and can do something with the ball ATC. Look at Steve Smith for Carolina. ..he's 5'10"-11". Amari Cooper. ..6'0" Good examples for my point. Cooper hasn't caught anything that's not laid in his lap, and as far as Smith goes, I can name ten taller guys that rate above him. He is a good possion receiver though. Who would you rather have on 3rd and long, Smith or Calvin Williams Johnson, AJ Green, Jimmy Graham, Ron Gronkowski, ad nausem? I know the last two are TEs, but still big guys. And there are many others I haven't mentioned. Don't get me wrong, we need the smaller, shiftier kids, but on 3rd and long, I want the big kids. Who is Calvin Williams?
  19. This. If you don't win your conference championship, you should not be allowed to be in the playoffs
