  1. We signed 4 LB's last year. Dunno if they are still on the team or if they redshirted.
  2. I disagree. Gus needs at least 2 more full seasons to prove he can hack it in this conference. He's either got what it takes or he doesn't. I think we will know for sure at the end of the 2017 season. Agree..Gus has done at AU the last 3 years what he should have been doing at Arky State or Southern Miss or somewhere like that.......getting real HC experience running a Div i program. JMO but we hired him too early in his development and we need to let things play out as Keelser notes. I agree with this line of thinking as well I think this is a very accurate point
  3. But you have to admit, he's done more at Ole Miss than several seasoned coaches who proceeded him. Agreed
  4. You do realize that Hugh Freeze was at Arkansas State for exactly as many years as Gus...1, and had the same record, right? Prior to that, Freeze's Head Coaching experience consisted of 2 years at an NAIA school. He wasn't even a coordinator prior to that, just a tight ends coach. ouch How is that an ouch to my argument? Doesn't change the fact that Freeze still had two years more experience at a level above high school than Malzahn did before coming to the SEC. Was I wrong about Jones? Bielema? Tressel? All proven winners? Freeze did very well at a NAIA school with few resource
  5. Past 3 years? Have you even seen Nick Marshalls numbers from JUCO to his first year to his second year? Drastic improvements each year. Have you even seen SWs numbers that include a ton of drops by receivers and still had the best 3 game passing streak at AU in 18 years as a red shirt freshman? Good grief I am sick and tired of moronic agendas completely and totally ignoring facts that don't work for their arguments. I've had to stay away from AUF lately because the idiots are taking over. Looks like my break should extend longer. Geez. Outside of JJ, name a single qb that Malzahn coached
  6. Jay Jacobs isn't on the hot seat because he is an Auburn Alum. I don't see the powers that be firing an Auburn Alumnus. Even if he should.

  8. I would imagine hiring a HC is not that hard. DON'T hire a 5-19 coach. Honestly, Florida hiring Muschamp, UGA hiring smart, Vandy hiring Franklin, then hiring Mason. Hiring a coordinator is too risky. It may or may not pay off. Go after someone with a proven track record. Brett Bielema had 3 straight 10 win seasons. Butch Jones was successful at Central MIchigan and Cincinatti. Hugh Freeze built up Arkansas State. I think Gary Patterson would be a solid. Jim Tressel was at Youngstown State before OSU and won an FCS NC. Malzahn had one year as a HC before coming to Auburn. Might as
  9. Lack of priority/bad hires in basketball and baseball will do that to you. Look at Florida, they've made every major sport a priority and it shows. Then there are the "also rans" in the football world, who concentrate on baseball and basketball, since they know they are lacking in football. Auburn and Alabama focus on football and it shows. Alabama just hasn't had the coaching turmoil that we've had in those other two sports. I would be willing to bet that, 10 years from now, the same list will show Auburn at or near the top, because the school and the fans have started to really care a
  10. Both are great schools in great towns. But differences are Sumlin is actively trying to leave for the NFL as reported by the NFL Network, he has managed to run off two 5 star QB's, and now a trainer has come out and said he was pressured to clear injured players to play. Both Sumlin and Malzahn started off strong and have regressed each season since, both do not seem to be able to develop their QB's but at least with Gus there are not obvious red flags of trouble brewing in the background.
  11. Most teenagers are not thinking down the road. They want instant gratification. Most coaches are guilty of telling recruits what they want to hear. But regardless common since rarely comes into the equation. Some kids HAVE to play at an SEC school at any cost. They don't consider whether or not the coach is on the hot seat, how many 4 or 5 star players that school has signed the last two recruiting cycles. Most refuse to redshirt even though that would be the best thing they could do. Once they have committed and are barely getting playing time and the dust settles they realize they mad
