Dangerous Arkansas

Interesting parallels here. Consider Georgia vs. Tenn: A top 5 team at home takes on a conference foe who is a double digit underdog. We all know what happened next.

I really like our team's focus, but does anyone think we have a chance for a letdown? We always seem to have trouble with the Razorbacks.

I'm nervous about every game from here on out. Being in the Top 5 and seeing all these upsets happen week after week has got me more uptight than a long tail cat in a room fulla rockin' chairs. I know that we are good enough to win the SEC and play in Miami, but I can't help thinking we are still Auburn, and I am crossing my fingers hoping we don't end up on the cover of SI.

This game definitely worries me. Arkansas should lose this game, but there's just something about this game. Matt Jones is a great QB. They're good enough to beat us in a sloppy game. We'll have to hope that last season taught our players something. I figure it'll be close. This one will probably be our big wake-up call that every contending team has at some point during the season. If we respond well, we'll be fine until UGA. This is a dangerous team though.

Auburn jumped on UT much like UT jumped on UGA. In both situations, the home team was coming off a huge victory in a pivitol SEC game. Not so this week. Auburn is coming off a decisive, yet workmanship like fashion dismanteling of La Tech. Tons of folks got to play, as the starters were allowed to sit down and enjoy the game. More importanly, they were allowed to focus on Arkansas. CTT and the senior leadership know how tough the last 3 games w/ Arky have been, and I'm sure they don't need to be reminded of that.

Arky has been a game that has worried me the past couple of years and for a good reason. They have seemed to have had our number and the game we shouldn't lose but always do here is Arky.....

as long as matt jones puts on a jersery, i'm gonna be a nervous wreck on saturday. he's a special, special player, and you can never write off a guy like that. just ask the (not-so) mighty gators bout magic matt. i trust chizik to get the defense ready, but there is only so much scheming you can do against an improve specialist.

at some point this year, we're going to be in a dog fight with a team we're better than. it happens to every single top team every single year. i just hope we keep showing the kind of confidence and calm to play well in those situations.

:au::au: Yep, this game also concerns me. Arkansas and Nutt have been thorns in our side and they would love nothing better than to spoil Tubs success.... I think we win out IF we can get by them. Matt Jones is a shifty player who is tall and has better speed than one would think. He's been in the wars before and knows what it's like. This will be our biggest test since UT.... :au:

Auburn walks the wee piggies by 2 tds.

Arkansas isnt that good. Their d gives up MONSTER rushing yards. And Matt Jones struggles with the pass.

Here's what I think, though: Their coaches know that they've been giving up huge chunks of rushing yardage, so they drill their team all week to make absolutely sure that doesn't happen. This in turn give ol' JC a chance to air it out and let his receivers make some plays. I think that will be the key for us on offense.

As one of the guys who has been watching Auburn for longer than most of you have been alive I want to say the following.

Never bet on Auburn, as they will let you down. If you bet on them to win straight out they will lose; if you take Auburn to cover the spread they will win by one point less than the spread and if you pick them to lose they will win. I do not bet on sports teams to win individual games but I have placed a friendly wager on the overall outcome of the season.

What does all that I said above prove? Not a thing and all your worrying about the Auburn-Arkansas game will not alter the outcome. I do prefer to be the favorite and Auburn has passed every test this year with flying colors. Nobody expected this team to go 6-0 so far just like the 1993 team.

This is a special team made up of special players and coaches who have fought thru adversity, criticism, and overconfidence and gave up millions waiting in the NFL. That my friends is a veteran team with experience that you cannot buy.

Auburn will prevail all the way to the SECCG. After the end of the season we can worry.

Auburn 24 Hogs 10

One game at a time!

At the first of the year I was really worried, and still am, a little. I have seen Arky play three times this year. They lost to Texas and Florida, and came from behind to beat Bammer. Every team rushed the ball effectively against them. Our D is much better than any team I saw except Bammer until they wore out in the 4th quarter.

Call me crazy. I know the history between AU and Arky. However, I think this AU team has something special, a very good D and O. Arky has shown some tanasity and has been in every game. However, I still believe we are 13 points better, maybe more. We simply have too much speed on D. Arky :arky: gets shut down 31-7.

The piglets just haven't shown much in the way of defense this year IMHO. I think we are very focused in large part due to the disappointments of last year. That being said, I like my bacon crispy.
