dumb@$$, redneck, loser = UAT fan

Ahhh....classy.

Not only was it classy, he didn't answer the question either. Since overall=total, and bama has the #1 total defense in the nation, I'm gonna step out on a limb and say that bama has the #1 overall defense. It really is that simple.

Since Stat Tiger is muuuuuuuch better at this than either of us, please Stat Tiger, if you don't mind, tell me how you would rate the overall defense in the nation. Also, if you don't mind, when you hear ESPN or any other station covering college football talk about number 1 rated overall defenses, which stats are they talking about to rank the overall defense?

Tidefan ( and BG if you want to get into this):

You have gone from saying that UAT has the #1 defense, which is based, by your words, on ONLY fewest yards given up per game; to saying that now UAT has the bestoveralldefense. We both know that isn't true according to the stats listed on the website prefaced earlier in this section. You can't have it both ways, although that is a trait of both UAT and John Kerry. Wow! I wonder if there is a connection here! Hmmmmm...anyway...If you take all the defensive stats, (and I know I have said this at least 3 or 4 times now) into account, UAT is not at the top.

However, if this makes you feel good, fine. As far as classy: UAT fans are the last ones that should be calling out others on that subject. I apologize to my Auburn brethren for dipping down to your level, but I just wanted to get your attention, you know, speak your langauge. Had you not made such a smart@$$ remark about a definition you wouldn't have received one back.

Why argue over semantics?

Here Aubie7...do me a favor would ya? Click this link

http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?div=4

Thats the NCAA stat page. And click on the link that says TOTAL DEFENSE

After you do that...report back who #1 is.

Thats what im claiming. #1 total defense in the nation. Thats it. Pretty petty argument if you ask me. To say "when you calculate all the other stats in defense" means little to me.

The way TOTAL defense is calculated is on the NCAA web page. If there were other factors for which total defense was calculated...wouldnt it be included? or wouldnt there be another link for the category which you speak of?

I dont care anymore. Im done.

Wow, you guys are funny. Why are you guys fighting over stats when the season's not even over yet?

Have you guys seen the remaining teams on UAT's schedule? Let's see how their D plays out with those teams. And don't think for a minute that MSU is a push over. I watched that entire game (UF/MSU) in total disbelief. MSU was playing WAY over their heads...after watching that game, I wouldn't be surprised...

Ok, is just me or does it really not matter what our defense or offense is ranked?

I would love to be ranked by how many games we've won. To me that is the only thing that should rank a team....anything else is just numbers and puts too much pressure on everyone. The only thing that I see happening when they say our defense is highly ranked is...."hey don't over look us..we could bite you". I'd rather go into games as the underdog, and people feeling that we don't have a chance and maybe sneak up on someone.

Last night on Findscum, Brother Oliver made the comment that years from now, no one will look at stats, (except Stat Tiger :D ). They'll only see a "W" for Tennessee and an "L" for Bama.

Speaking of rank, that's how this thread is turning.

I've checked the NCAA stats page all year and right now UAT has the #1 ranked defense in the country. They are 34th against the run and 1st against the pass.

That and 39 cents will get you a single blunt down at the convenience store.

One reason to keep this up is that it is fun to watch them get all upset over nothing! If they beat us, oh well, they beat us. However, this is all they have right now! :cheer:

Thank you!!!! :cheer: You made my point! :D I was hoping that would come out. So, 34th against the run is not #1 against the run, is it guys!? So, :ua: does not have the #1 defense against the run. They are 1st against the pass. If you get an average of just those two stats alone, the :ua: defense is ranked 17 overall. That's what I am saying: take ALL stats into account. I never said anything about what the NCAA does and does not do.
