Silly Superstitions

Jaydubb mentioned it in a previous thread and I thought it would be fun for everybody to share some of the superstitions they have had throughout the season that they are still using:

I for one bought some orange pants the week before the Alabama game last year and have worn them every Friday before a game and we have won every game since then.

Also, since this season has started I have eaten at Momma Goldberg's every Thursday and have gotten a Plainsman and posted the first page of the sports section on my fridge.

One of my friends got a $.50 piece from the concession stand for change during the first game of the season and it happened to be from 1993. He has carried it in his pocket to every game.

Another friend of mine has a stuffed Aubie that she ws given as a child and we all (about 30 of us) kiss it right before we leave for the stadium!

My boyfriend has been wearing the same shirt for the past 9 games. He's either going to have to put a long sleeve shirt under it or wear a jacket over it this weekend because it's supposed to be cold!!!

Anyone else got any others they'd like to share????

:D

Well I've been using the same shaker ever since last year (which they cut by the way at Ole Miss - did a nice grafting job). And I wear the same shirt every game.

That's about it

My shaker got chopped too, but it will definitely be shaking come Saturday!!!

The funniest thing about all of this is I actually think that if I don't do what I have been doing, then we might lose so I will continue to do these things until then!!!!!!

Your boyfriend is probably starting to stink. :D Tell him to change that shirt.

Mine started with the first game. I was in J&M and saw one of those incredibly bright and loud orange AU jerseys. #23. I've worn it every game day with the same AU cap. Not much of a crazy supersticion but hey, it's worked so far.

I, too, have been using the same shaker since my Senior year of college (2002). Other than that, I pretty much rely on the Tigers to pull us through. WDE!! :au:

I have a '93 sweatband, complete w/ AU logo, that I wear on "special" occasion games. :)

IT is undefeated. It will be on my right wrist when we have the ball and on my left wrist when the puppies have the ball.(Don't ask me why, that is just the way it WORKS!) :)

I got a new "Orange" shirt before the season started. I have worn it to every game this season. I will wear it Saturday. B)

Because, as my friend Jaydubb has reminded me on several occasions this year, "Hey, It's all about ME! ! !"

WAR EAGLE....O N E at a time. :au:

I normally start out the week by placing my flags up on Friday. I wear the same hat which is probably starting to stink. I have worn the same AUBURN shirt every game day. I start the day listening to the pregame to get ready.

I bought an AU hat the first game as an Alum (my undergrad one died). I wore that hat to every game in 1997 and 1998. By then, it was pretty foul, so I retired it, swearing to only break it out for big games that I went to.

I've broken it out four times since then, once per year (didn't wear it to any game in 1999). Alabama 2000, Florida 2001, LSU 2002, Tennessee 2003. I debated about wearing it to LSU, but held off. I'll be bringing that hat this weekend. I won't put the hat on my head, however, until after I've gotten the ticket stub back from the usher. So, I'll literally carry the hat with me, from our tailgate to Jordan-Hare.

Also, the first home game I go to every year, I buy a new Auburn t-shirt. I wear that t-shirt every Saturday. I was nervous last weekend, not sure if I should wear it or not, since we had an off weekend.

I thought about washing the '93 sweatband. BUT, Jaydubb explained that I might wash the luck out of it.

"Not superstitious, just cautious!" Barney to Andy :)

I only get superstitious for one game--the West Alabama Alcoholics. I won't wear even the tiniest bit of red.

After the Van Tifffin kick in'86, I found that my boxers had some red in the label that I hadn't snipped out. Felt guilty for days.

Obviously, it doesn't work every year, but we ARE leading the series since I started.

I shave my legs every Sat morning - I don't WAIT to shave them or anything, but no matter what, I shave them on Sat.

I nearly cost us Ole Miss - got busy cleaning Sat morning and didn't get to shower before gametime. Showered at halftime, had freshly shaved legs for second half...BINGO.

Sorry to disappoint you, WarTim - it's all about me and I have the silky smooth legs to prove it.

I wear the same shirt every friday before a game..and the same shirt every gameday (two different shirts though). I absolutely will not wear those shirts if it is not the day before or a gameday. And I have used the same shaker every game since Tenn last year.

Oh, and my gameday shirt is undefeated when worn at home! (Dating back to the Western Kentucky game from last year)... Yes, I know we lost to Ole Miss at home last year and I was not at that game with my shirt on. I still sometimes blame myself for that loss!

But you can bet I'll be wearing my shirts Friday and Saturday! WAR EAGLE!!!

i wore a particular :au: hat on the first game of 2004. we won, so i wore it the next saturday. we won,.....etc...so i will be wearing the same hat this weekend.

being on the west coast, i rarely make it to a game so i resort to t.v. i have not watched a single game this season, mainly because i have been salmon fishing; however, i turned on the :au: vs :om: game and ole miss scored. i turned off the t.v. went outside for awhile turned the t.v. on to get an update and guess what?, ole miss scored. i did not turn on the t.v. until i knew it was over.

when i was on campus during the 93 and 94 season, my friends and i each took a swig of perm-a-frost before each home game.

I am the opposite of Jenny, I cannot shave on gameday. My face that is. And I have a white Cadillac hat which I didn't wear during the Ole Miss game until the WH interception. As soon as I put it on, we got the INT and the momentum.

A side note, that hat got washed by accident last week. I hope that's not a sign...

I've worn the same shirt to the game each week. That's it. Pretty simple huh? I was wondering how I was going to pull it off this week since it's short sleeves, but someone smart suggested a longsleeve shirt under it. You guys are good!

And AUJarhead...if you are ever out and about in St. Louis or the surrouding area and a middle-aged couple approaches you and gives you a very emphatic "War Eagle!" don't be scared...it's just my crazy parents.

WDE :au:

Well, if this season is any indication, it has been good luck that I have YET to see one of our games in its entirety...best I've been able to manage is about 2 quarters. That pattern will continue this weekend. I will have my customary Shiner Bock and Freebirds burrito beforehand, though.

I never buy a $10 square on the Auburn board at my local watering hole, it's a sure sign of disaster.

By the way, you guys that got part of the stick of your shaker cut off at Ole Miss, do you know what they do with the cut off part? They sell it as Mississippi Viagra, you buy the stick and some scotch tape......

I wear the same boxers every game, except for the MSU game. It was Sept. 11 so I wore my American flag boxers. Other than that I don't have any because everytime I start one, it ends pretty soon. I wore the same falcons sweatshirt and t-shirt on Sundays in 1998, the super bowl year. The only games I didn't wear it, we lost. And the only game I did wear it, and we ended up losing, was the super bowl. I guess I don't have "the force"

I actually just did a whip and tounge graft, minus the tounge ;) , on my poor shaker.

Hopefully it can pull us through Saturday.

I've only got to watch two AU games all year. One was the LSU(which was down to the wire) and the other was Ole Miss(which was close for a good while). Every other game that I got bits and pieces of from the radio, AU blew out the opponent.

What do you guys think, watch or don't watch?
