AU commit & Rivals No. 1 kicker Jimmy Hutchinson @Kicker_88 selected to play in the Semper Fidelis All-Ameican Bowl, he confirms.

@JHokanson

For anyone who wonders what this game is it's the same national All Star game JaQuay showed out in last year.

Wavering?

What makes you ask this

Hoke posted something then deleted it because the issue may be resolved. I don't know what the issue is.

I thought he may be asked to grey shirt?

Why? We have more slots than we'll likely be able to fill. I don't see messing around with the nation's top punter.

With a new staff I'm not sure we won't use all of our slots. I agree with you though. If its not necessary why mess with it. My statement was more of a question.

Looks like it might have been one thing then turned out to be something else but then again it might have been nothing.

I hope Jimmy and AU work out, Jimmy is a great punter and a solid kid, would be a great fit at AU.

maybe he doesn't fit it CGM's offense. I mean, come on guys. with this offense, it must be expected that we will never punt, right?

Just kidding guys. I got mad respect for this kid, and hope he's still with us!

I will say this much. If Hutch is let go then that likely means the staff feels it can get close to the max number of signees with other recruits.

Either that, or Gus and Rhett really have decided to go for it on every 4th down. That would be exciting, too.

Personally, I like having good kickers -- so I hope he sticks!

He will stick...It's just whether or not AU lets him stick..

If it comes down to a kicker or a DT -- a really good one -- I'd take the DT. But I sure wouldn't mess around with a great kicker for something less vital.

I will be sort of disappointed if this staff doesn't keep a kid that's been committed for so long.

You mean like Liner? He committed before anyone. Unfortunately it happens sometimes. I'm more concerned with who absolutely wants to be here than the ones who once thought they did. That said, hope the kid sticks around.

Liner was "committed" to us. He has been silent to Bama for a while now according to Bama insiders (friends dads friend knows one) and told me forever ago that he was gone. Just thought he was messing with me. Maybe he got lucky, maybe he knew.

That's not the choice. Daily we are offering 3* D-backs and receivers with questionable grades. Tell me we aren't dropping Hutchinson for some of those?

I've always been a little afraid that the kickers might be dropped. When CGM first came we heard that he visited most of big-time commits but I never heard of a visit with kickers. I thought maybe he wasn't sure we needed so many ST guys on scholarship. I think some schools don't sign kickers except as invited walkons, making them try out and hopefully earn a scholarship later. Don't know what Coach's philosophy is on this. Then I heard kickers were cool with new staff, so I thought maybe everything was good. Looks like maybe staff is having second thoughts after evaluation of kicking game. I'm thinking it would give us bad PR to do something like this so late in game. If one decommits, I would think both might be gone. Keeping my fingers crossed it gets worked out.
