***2017 4* JUCO QB Jarrett Stidham Signs with AU!!! (12/14/16)

A couple of highly rated linemen from Colorado and Arizona went back home after a couple of years. Not getting much playing time may have had something to do with their unhappiness. Glad BSmith girl friend is at Auburn. That could help keep him for one more year.

Yup. Westerman got homesick too.

That was the one from Arizona. Couldn't remember his name.

Unless the gf moves to Auburn with him (highly unlikely I would assume), they'll be 800 miles apart most days for the next 1-2 years.

Yeah, the gf's blessing def was a HUGE factor.

The word throughout his recruitment was that she was going to transfer to wherever he ended up. It's possible that could change, but that was always the plan.

That would be awesome.

sorry if this has already been brought up or if I'm posting this in the wrong place.  I feel like Stidham being able to come in for bowl practice is huge for us vs. OU.  He's the closet thing we have a QB that can do the things Mayfield can do.  that will be huge for the defense in preparation.  Also, he faced them last year.  He can give insight on what he saw vs them and what we can expect.  Baylor scored 34 on them last year.  34 points would be a win with our defense playing.

I would agree with you if he was here and able to do all that but he is not. He is basically here to get his physical, to gel with players a couple days, & to throw a bit. He can only practice today and tomorrow and will not be doing any Mayfield simulations. Once the players leave for Christmas break they are done practicing in Auburn. The rest of the practices will be in Nola and JS can not go with or practice with the team in Nola.

Why is this?

NCAA rule since he has not started classes at AU yet.

It is too bad Auburn doesn't offer some on-line "between semester" classes that would allow some individuals to get a head start on the next semester.

Yeah,  I looked right after I posted and saw where EE are not allowed to travel with the team to bowl games.  I guess 2 practices is better than none and who knows, they could have thrown him on the practice squad.......

Stidham looks to be wearing #15 in early practice work

That could change before the season starts and Sean needs to ditch that unlucky #13 no wonder he stays hurt all the time.If I was the coach there would be no #13's on my team.

Posted in the 2017 QB thread. Justin Ferguson of SECCountry  said JS does not have a number yet & Queen (Who has 15) is healthy for the 1st time in a long time.

But he may have been even better if he hadn't worn that unlucky number, seems like I remember he had several knee injuries.

I don't know about that. I embraced the number 13. I have 2 National Championship rings, and once randomly walked by a roulet wheel, plopped a $5 on 13 and hit it, (I don't get to casinos very often so that was fairly big for me). I have also walked under a ladder, had a black cat run in front of me and knocked over the salt. (That last sentance is false, but the other stuff is true).

Really looking forward to seeing how much our offense can improve with JS taking over. From watching Baylor's 2015 games when JS started, I got extremely excited and have major confidence that Stidham will be a great replacement. His stats during his starts against KSU (419 pass yards w/ 3TDs), #12 Oklahoma (257 yards w/ 2 TDs) , and #6 OK state (258 yards w/ 1 TD & 36 rush yards). Those stats are REALLY good especially from a freshman. From what I saw, he is extremely accurate, has a cannon for an arm, and when he gets pressured the guy is quick on his feet and can scramble for good yardage. I am looking forward to seeing how good he does with our play-makers at WR and hoping that his arm adds a much needed dimension to our offense.

yo @ellitor what is the deal with rivals STILL dragging their feet on ranking Stidham?! he is not even in our commitment list for this class. Every other site has him ranked.

They aren't dragging ranking him. They simply won't. They have a company policy, which their new president & Mike Farrell believe in, that players who do not play any joco ball are not to be ranked as juco players. They see him as a FBS transfer & no sites rank FBS transfers. JGT, JLee & BMatt complained to Mike Farrell & The Prez & the response to the 3 was metaphorically go suck an egg.
