According to knowledgeable sources, Stidham very possibly will officially visit Auburn two weeks later when the Tigers play host to Texas A&M. What would make that particular visit all the more intriguing is that sources continue to indicate this is shaping up to be an Auburn-Texas A&M battle. Worth noting: According to Hamm, Stidham said Auburn is recruiting him harder than anyone at this time. At Stephenville (Texas), Stidham was the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the country for the 247Sports rankings in 2015. Auburn recruited him hard, but he ultimately chose Baylor. As a true freshman, Stidham started three games for the Bears, passing for 1,265 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions while completing nearly 69 percent of his passes. He left the program this summer after the dismissal of coach Art Briles. He plans to attend a junior college this fall, but not play. Stidham has told Hamm a decision on his future likely won't come until December. Stidham attended Auburn's first practice of preseason camp and has communicated often with the staff. If getting Briles is a key to getting him, I hope we can sign Briles to a coaching contract. Then we're looking for another OC. I know that can happen with any OC, however, if Gus is going to call the plays, it seems like it would be better to get a GOOD QB coach and have someone that develops the kind of QB Gus wants and leave him to call the plays. He probably needs to do that anyway. JMHO, but I think Briles would be a good fit. The Baylor offense was similar to what we want to do. Gus and the Briles' have a good relationship and he went to Baylor to collaborate about Offense already. I also believe that the younger Briles is a few years away from becoming a HC, so if he came to AU I would expect him to be here about 3 years or so. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He probably needs to do that anyway. FWIW Bigbird has met KB & says he is a good coach in his own right. I don't think we are looking at taking KB for Stidham.
