Auburn vs Kentucky game 2

Recommended Posts

Camp on the mound tonight and right away in trouble thanks to another error..the team's 71st of the year.

UK follows with a couple hits and an infield out and another single and goes up 3-0. Camp obviously frustrated...2 runs unearned..and AU comes to bat

Camp having more problems and long UK home run makes it 5-0 . Already past 50 pitches in the second inning. Ends with a strike out and Tigers come to bat for the second time.

Grief hits a bases loaded triple to put AU back in the game. UK up 5-3.

Let's see if that gives Camp some new life.

OK...Camp gets out of inning with no damage and with a modest number of pitches. 3 PO by Burgreen in left...one a very nice running snag to prevent a triple.

Well, well...Burgreen follows his good defensive inning with a 2 run homer to right center and the game is tied at 5-5.

Let's see if Camp can hold on a few more innings

Well dang..Grier picked off first. Interesting fact...more than 10% of the time after getting on base AG is either picked off or caught stealing....lots of wasted scoring opportunities.

So we are in the 5th still tied and Camp's pitch count is reasonable....oops another by Nulph...#72 for the year...

I know we have the worst fielding team in the SEC, but does AU lead in the number of base runners picked off, too?

Thompson to chat with Camp and he is done for the. night....a pretty good outing once he settled down but at 85 pitches...2 outs and a runner on first Butch brings in Klobo who will either be great or gone after a few batters.

Klobo gets the batter and AU up in the 5th...tied at 5 and a lot of basebAll to play

AU up and down with nothing ....so now we will see which Klobo showed up tonight...6th inning

Nice inning by Klobo......2 Ks and a weak pop up to Gray

OK Burgeen made a heads up play....short fly to the out field and he never stopped...turned it into a double when the RF could not handle it.

JB advanced to 3rd on FC and scored on sac fly .....AU takes it's first lead of the game....6-5 going to 7h.

Two infield his and Klobo in trouble...and done for the night...Mize comes in with 2 on and no outs and meat of the Cat batting order.

Klobo deserved a better fate. IMO

Mize allows the tying run but gets out of the inning..tied at 6-6

AG lines out and Gray singles to left...but Ebert hits into a DP ....only took about 5 pitches by the tired UK pitcher....probably will allow him to come back next inning.

UK single to left against the wall..bad throw and he is safe at second....reasonable throw would have gotten him.

So leading run on base with no outs.

Mize keeps him there to close out the Cats.....bottom of 8th coming up..

A well pitched inning.

UK goes to the bullpen.

Niko greets him with a double to right.

Well that is it..UK brings on another pitcher

OMG....Logan puts down a very nice sac bunt to send Niko to 3rd. Caught UK napping and he almost.beat it out. So now with one out UK brings in a lefty to face Burgreen.

Burger walks on 4 pitches and Haeker at bat runners first and third...and another walk to load bases...don't think that was the Cat's plan.

Deese up....and another pitcher in

AU scores on a WP to take the lead

And ball 4 loads the bases again

Single by Nulph brings in two more runs...9-6 for AU

Grier singles to drive in another. 10-6 runners on second and third...Gray lines out...Ebert grounds out but AU leads 10-6 going to the ninth. Boy I lost count on the number of walks by UK that inning but they were quite generous.
