Softball records set in 2016

Here's a break down of some records our 2016 Softball Tigers broke this past season and a few that are still on-going (largely because the player that broke those records is still in the program).

The 2016 campaign went down as the best season in Auburn softball program history to date. Numerous feats were reached that had never been accomplished on The Plains. A plethora of records fell last season and a few are still continuing on through the next year. A full list of records that were broken are below, including a few notes on the team's outstanding season.

Other notables from the 2016 season and beyond...
- Auburn led the country in scoring output after averaging 7.94 runs per game.
- Since Clint Myers has been at the helm, Auburn has totaled 1,689 hits. That mark is the most ever in a three-year span and is 275 more than the previous high (1,414 hits between 1999-2001).
- The Tigers hit 99 doubles, which was the highest total they have produced in a season since 2000 (106).
- Auburn laced 13 triples, which is the most since 2005 (16).
- After competing in a program-best 70 games, the Tigers recorded 1,362 putouts, which is the highest mark since 1997 (1,450).
- Auburn's pitching staff produced a 2.19 ERA, marking the lowest output in that category since 2012 (2.01).
- The Tigers netted 19 shutouts, which is the most since 2008 (also 19).
- Auburn's pitchers totaled 454.0 innings pitched, besting any previous season except 1997 (483.1).
- The Tigers allowed just 142 earned runs, which stands as the lowest total since 2012 (108).
- On the flipside, Auburn struck out the opposition 286 times, which is the highest mark since 2012 (332).
- Opposing hitters only batted .225 off Tiger pitching, which is the best the staff has produced since 2012 (.204).
- Auburn locked up the late innings by securing seven saves, the most since 2008 (nine).
