Former Auburn star and NFL running back Tre Mason was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday.

Mason was arrested in connection with an incident involving an ATV on July 27, during which he drove away from law-enforcement authorities. He is charged with fleeing and eluding without regard for others' safety or property. According to the Palm Beach County (Florida) Sheriff's Office, Mason was booked into jail at 10:49 a.m. EST Tuesday and released at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday on a $5,000 bond.

Mason was riding an ATV in a public park when deputies, responding to a complaint of an ATV being operated recklessly, tried to stop him on July 27. Mason drove from the park to his mother's home in Lake Worth. Deputies followed Mason, and he was cited for operating an ATV on public roads and failing to stop for police. Mason was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 30 for the citations.

At the home, a dash-cam recorded Mason's mother telling the responding officers: "He's 22 in a 10-year-old's mindset right now."

A warrant for Mason's arrest in the ATV incident was issued on Dec. 14. The Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts records show Mason was cited for a parking violation on Tuesday. The records show Mason has 16 parking citations and traffic infractions in the past seven months.
