  • True freshman defensive tackle Derrick Brown was getting an earful from Rodney Garner during a drill. Brown was keeping his head down and shoulders too far forward and Garner was voicing his displeasure with that and made Brown redo the drill two more times.

Defensive back Marshall Taylor was not at Auburn's practice Saturday, marking the fourth straight session he has missed.

Stephen Davis Jr. a freshman safety-turned-running back, was also not seen during the portion of Saturday's practice open to the media.

One of the only major differences Saturday afternoon at Auburn’s fourth preseason practice was the presence of officials.

The first arrival of men in black and white stripe shirts signals the likelihood of an Auburn conducting its first scrimmage action of the preseason even though the team was just in half pads Saturday. Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn has said repeatedly that he wants to make a decision on starting quarterback “sooner than later” and this session, along with its first full-pad practice Sunday begins that process.

  • During early portion of the scrimmage, Sean White and Jeremy Johnson were still trading first-team reps while John Franklin III was working with the backup offensive linemen.
  • Auburn mixed up the skill position players as Kerryon Johnson, the projected starting running back was working with Franklin and the backup offensive linemen. Chandler Cox and Kamryn Pettway were working as the first-team tailbacks. Kam Martin and Malik Miller were rotating in with the backups.

Grad transfer...not off to a good  start at his new home. Guy his age should have known better.
