Potential Ole Miss players out for Auburn game

Starting left tackle Rod Taylor and starting right guard Jordan Sims are questionable for the Auburn game.  Both were injured in the loss to LSU this past weekend.  Taylor has a high ankle sprain and Sims has a reoccurring ankle injury.  Greg Little took over for Sims last Saturday who is a former 5* recruit but is a true freshmen.  Hugh Freeze is personally handling starting linebacker Terry Caldwell's status as he was sent to the locker room voluntarily by Freeze in the LSU game after a sideline altercation with a teammate.  I would expect him to sit out the first half.  Freeze has also alluded to players not handling the adversity well after the losses.  This could be another Arkansas-Auburn score boys and girls...

If Auburn takes care of Auburn, and shows up ready to play, this is a W. Gotta put last week's W behind us.

Saw last night, where Kevin Steele said the players were told not to talk about the Arkansas game until the banquet. Shows the coaches are looking forward and getting the guys ready to play the next game. Definitely feel Swag is going to be under pressure all night.

Yep, let's not dislocate a shoulder patting ourselves on the back.  One opponent per week....that should be our focus.

I've been harping on their line woes since Taylor went down against LSU. They finished that game with freshman at both tackle positions. We should eat Kelly alive.

I usually agree with you, but I expect a big W for us.  Their lines one both sides are hurting badly. I don't see their defense wanting to tackle Pettway after the first few series or their OL being able to withstand our DL on their first few series.

400 yards rushing IMO

I've said since the OM v Alabama game that their D wasn't very physical, I said the same about Arkansas. I think we have success on O as long as we don't turn it over. Their WR's and Kelly scrambles are the only things that worries me about this game

Normally I agree completely and even here I partially agree. I just think their makeshift OL might get CK killed

I think we will see them throw a TON of quick WR screens, quick slants, etc to compensate for the Oline issues. They will probably start of strong but fade as the game goes along. I think this game will be much tougher than ARK. I was pretty confident that we would beat ARK by double digits but OM - not so sure. This will be the first team we play that wants to pass it on just about every down. It will be interesting because I think we will get some sacks and TFLs but I think CK will also eat us up a few times. Our corners/safeties are about to be tested big-time. I think we will actually be down in this game early, but in the end we win a very tight game (and I would be very happy with this).

Completely agree Bird. Our Lines will whip theirs all night. They will make a play or 2 for sure, they have too much talent. But it statrs and ends in the trenches and our second team Dline is gonna eat very well. Arky's Dline is better than OM's at this point, and we only had 1 negative play all game, THE KNEEL DOWN!

The question I have is can we break Kelly's spirit. I've gotten the impression, this year, that he's not 100% in it for the team (see late nigh chats with porn stars the night before a big game) and I wonder if we put him on his butt enough times, that he might either pack it in or get in his line's faces enough that they make it easier for us to hit him.

Watching Wisconsin struggle at Iowa and OSU lose at Penn State over the weekend just reinforced how difficult it can be for even good teams to win on the road.

But taking a look at the points OM's defense has given up per game is certainly reassuring.

45 to FSU, 48 to bamr, 28 to Memphis, 34 to Arkansas, and 38 to LSU.

You can add "42 to Auburn" after Saturday. As in 42-13.

I do not think that this 2016 Auburn team is one as a group have a chip on their shoulders and will play lights out. Our team is as hungry as a college football can be. Gus, Rhett, Kevin and the rest of the assistants will have this team focused and ready to step out on the field of VHS ready to play 60 minutes of hard nosed football with a level of confidence that equals their talent. I do not think this team will have the attitude of this game being a push-over. OM will score some points, but likely 24-35 points less than what we score.  I think we go into the locker room at half time looking at a score of 24-7 in our favor. Look for us to score at least 17-28 points in the 2nd half. I see a score of 41 to 17. It could easily be 49-21 or worse in our favor. I see this team as a very special one that will take care of business with a hunger that will keep them honest, but full of confidence each week for the rest of the season.

I agree that it will not be an easy win in that we will fight to score every point through hard nosed football. The Arkansas game was not easy in that we fought hard to score every point through determination, blood, sweat, and whatever we needed to do to earn the victory.

Somewhere in Ole Miss' smoldering husk of a season is a team that dominated FSU and Alabama for short periods of time.  I don't fully understand their Jekyll and Hyde routine, but there is a chance that the planets align and we find ourselves in an even contest.  And that's what I think Ole Miss' ceiling is in this game... an even contest.  Anything less than their absolute best and the game will get away from them.  I don't believe Auburn needs to be extraordinary to win, but if we play to our ceiling then it will be bad for the home team.

How anyone can say this will be easy win for us is not being realistic. These are the reasons this will be a dogfight.

1. Ole Miss is playing at home. This is always worth points and an advantage.

2. Ole Miss' record stands at 3-4, and for them to salvage this season, get to a bowl, they will be so focused as this game will make or break their season. They will be intense as ever before.

3. Chad Kelly can throw the ball well. If his OL doesnt fold with the injuries that are piling up, OM will put points on the board. He is a SR and can run too. We have to be consistently putting good pressure on him, and not letting him scramble too.

4. After winning such a big game against AK in the fashion we did, I am concerned we will have a lapse in intensity. We mUST bring the same O and D we were successful with to Ole Miss.

But i do not think at all this will be an easy game to win. Not in the least.

Trying to not get overconfident after last week is tough but...ole miss is #107 in total defense. 107! To put that in perspective, Arkansas is #84 and Miss St is #56. There is a reason the rebs have suddenly fallen off the face of the earth. We need to jump on them early and often.

I see your 4 points and raise you one of the worst rushing defenses in the country and an offensive line that will be playing either injured, or with freshman starting for the first time.

Also, I don't see anyway #4 happens with this team.  They know what it's like to fail.  I expect 100% intensity for all of the remaining games... even Alabama A&M.
