Kyler Deese Dismissed From Baseball Team

Recommended Posts

Kyler Deese has been dismissed from the Auburn baseball program less than a week after being arrested for public intoxication, an athletic department spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday.

Deese, a senior infielder and catcher, was arrested at 11:23 p.m. last Thursday on South Gay Street in Auburn. Police reports indicated that it was not the 23-year-old's first arrest.

"Coach (Butch) Thompson is aware of the situation and is continuing to gather facts at this time," a university spokesperson told the Opelika-Auburn News at the time.

The Auburn native made 40 starts for the Tigers during the 2016 season between third base, catcher and first base, batting .221 with 20 RBIs and 31 runs scored.

He finishes his career at Auburn with a .240 average, two home runs and 47 RBIs over 103 games played in three seasons

Thursday's arrest was not Deese's first run-in with trouble as part of the Auburn baseball program: Last season, Deese was suspended for what was referred to as "a violation of team rules."

Deese is due to appear in court on April 13 at 8 a.m.
