turds will pay kids to keep them from other schools and maybe....just maybe they see the field in a meaningful game. It's the 2017 version of the Bear Bryant model. Take every kid you can....that way the competition has fewer to play with.

The only explanation is he or his family is being paid a great deal of money or benefits.

But why would you take the risk of paying somebody when you wouldn't even offer them a real scholarship.

Face it, dude is a classic chump.

Maybe you pay him precisely TO get him to greyshirt.  If Parks' family can make it one year without a scholly but that allows them to sign someone else whose family cannot, that helps Bama.

Honestly, I think he is just believing the lies.  Can Alabama give him a scholly in the 2018 class?  Apparently, he won't enroll until Jan 2018??  Really humiliating for this kid, who would be the crown jewel at many P5 schools.

Where there's a way there's the REC. Some of these poor kids, and some are literally poor, cannot see beyond the promises. Is anyone here as old as I am that remember the days before scholarship limits? Promises for most of these kids are made for the same reason. Bryant used to recruit and sign enough players to field 2 teams at any other university, just to keep them away from Auburn and other schools. Most never saw any action, except for pacing the sidelines at LegionField.

This whole situation is weirdly annoying. We lose recruits to Bama all the time. But it stings for one to act so against his self-interest.

For a guy planning to go to the NFL (as I assume he does), one year of lost practice and playing time can cost him potential millions. No way Bama is offering that much.

Apparently not humiliating enough for him to grow a spine.

Trent Kelley coming to Auburn from Central High School as a preferred walk on....scored a 36 on his ACT.

Let them have him.  Doesn't seem like the type of character we would want anyways.

With a 36 on the ACT, you know he's only there to play football!

Family was in his ear all day, said being a backup at Bama is better than a starter anywhere else. Bought into the illusion. Oh well.

Yep.  Sounds like family had some skin in the game as well.

And Saban will probably retire or leave before the kid even starts... apparently they didn't watch a clemson walk on win the national championship. Sad

Sad.  Kid's not gonna get the Charger, free tatts, free tailored suits & $1000 handshakes he was promised for signing with bammer.  Now he's gotta settle for a used pick-up, 1/2 priced tatts, school gear & $100 handshakes instead.

I might cry too...

Uhh.... Never mind.  Guess the $ now is more important than PT now.  That program is nothing but one, big, gigantic NCAA death penalty waiting to happen.  When Emmert finally goes off into the sunset arm-in-arm with his buddy Saban, the bammers might actually start sweating bullets.

Good thing they love to live in the past as well...

What is it you called the other day with Benton's dad? Paybacks.
