Players moving positions

It's the off-season so let's talk about recent rumors of AU players moving positions...

C Toney moving to DE?

Cowart moving to DT?

Those are some that are the big rumors, but what about Franklin? No talk but will he move and to where from what I have seen. Kick return specialist maybe? Slot WR? Omac role?

B. Cowart will make a very good DT and will become  a fixture on the D-Line. We will be solid on the D-line in 2017 with BC in the mix for a lot of playing time. I wonder if M. Davidson will move to the interior of the D-line. He could play each position and be very successful as a DT & DE. Our depth on the D-line will remain a strong point in 2017.

We will have to have steady play at the safety and CB positions. I see no reason for our offense to have any drop off and should be a strength more so than 2016. A lot of fun will be underway in 2017.

My War Damn Corgi left this world on January 17. From the time she was diagnosed with lymphoma this past September, she managed to make her 11th birthday on December 31st.  She held on much longer than anyone thought she would. She was the best pup in all of my life. We were going to get a Corgi puppy, but decided to get a rescue Corgi.

We will welcome Bubba-Max to our home at the end of this month. He is a handsome tri-color Pembroke Corgi and just celebrated his 6th birthday. He is a large guy coming in at 40 lbs. When I first was told about Bubba-Max, I though he was in for a long diet to get his weight down around 7-10 lbs.

What I did not know as that he is a large Corgi that according to the vet, is at a healthy weight for his build. He was rescued from a home that did not give him the attention and love he deserved. He has been with his foster mom since September, and has developed into a happy pup that I know will give us many years of love and play. He is now, War Damn Corgi II and will make Auburn proud and will carry the torch that my Corgi girl carried for many years with pride!

We have to stop signing top quality DEs and moving them. Andrew Williams, Cowart, Tega now people are talking about Davidson...Then we move LBs to DE ala Holland. I don't understand that. I never have understood why we do that.

Never heard the Toney thing & Cowart to DT is not a rumor. Been reported by a number of AU outlets.

Lastly we don't discuss rumors on this board without something from an AU outlet that';s linkable or from someone connected to a situation.

To discuss Toney, something from a reputable AU source must be linked. Otherwise stick to Cowart.

Yes a timely comparison IMO is John Franklin to Julian Edelman - a phenomenal small college dual QB. Speed kills - I'd like to see John's put to wider use.

With Cowart moving to DT, I say there is no way they move Davidson.  We really need him on the strong side

Obviously we will miss Adams and Lawson, but I really like the potential of our 2017 DL.

Not necessarily. It could just be a better opportunity for Cowart.

Cowart only chance is to move inside. Does not have the first step needed to be a good DE.

Steele is looking for somewhere to put him. Wouldn't be surprised to see Toney get a shot at DE. Won't get much time at LBer.

Gotta watch wording...If OP would edit from "let's talk about a recent rumor" to "let's speculate on the possibility of" I think the thread is completely valid.  Thoughts E?

Agree, I think it's Tre , DD & _______.  Who u think Bird?

I think Atkinson and Williams were playing the best at the end of the season.

Agree, Atkinson would be who I think 3rd LB will be. I also won't be surprised to see Richard McBryde make a huge leap on the scene. Kid has skills

Might have been injuries but DDs (relative) lack of speed looked more problematic late in the year. He and Neal were both a half step late on a bunch of plays.

Really?  So speculation about players and position changes are out the door without a link?  Can I start a Wiki entry or get a post on Bleacher Report and link myself?

I was looking through the official roster yesterday and saw Cameron Toney's name and thought to myself, I forgot he was even on the team.  Why don't they do a Cassanova McKinsey with him and give him a shot at DE.  But sorry, I don't have a link.

No, will be a Junior in 2017.

I guess the photo didn't materialize on my post. His high school senior football picture makes him look like he's 40. Check it out if you get the opportunity

Tre and Davis were extremely successful at the position... Why change that?
