Softball injuries/illness

Tannon Snow is still not doing any better. Unfortunately we will never likely know the nature of that illness (at least until after she's recovered). Crocker is out this weekend after hyper extending her knee in practice tuesday.

AUBURN, Ala. – Injuries and illness have hit Auburn’s softball team going into Thursday’s home opener at Jane B. Moore Field.

The No. 2 Tigers, 3-1 after the Triple Crown Tournament in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, take on Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, 5-0, at 6 p.m.

First baseman Tannon Snow, who has missed more than two weeks of practice and did not make the trip to Mexico because of an illness, is still out.

“Tannon is not doing any better,” Auburn coach Clint Myers said Wednesday. “She is out indefinitelyly.

Second baseman Casey McCrackin and KK Crocker, who started two games apiece in Mexico, suffered injuries in Tuesday’s practice, Myers said. McCrackin was hit with a pitch in the helmet but is expected to be ready for Thursday night’s game. Crocker suffered a hyper-extended knee and is out for the weekend. She is expected to return next weekend.

Outfielder Whitney Jordan, who played shortstop last season when Haley Fagan suffered a torn ACL, got work at second base Wednesday.

“If somebody gets hurt, Whit knows where she’s going,” Myers said. “She has the most experience moving around.”

The Plainsman Invitational begins on Friday at Jane B. Moore Field. Here is Auburn’s schedule for the weekend:

FRIDAY

Auburn vs. Creighton, 2:30 p.m.

Auburn vs. SIEU, 4:45 p.m.

SATURDAY

Auburn vs. Evansville, 3:30 p.m.

Auburn vs. Creighton, 6 p.m.

SUNDAY

Auburn vs. Mercer, 2 p.m.

Looks like all games will be on some form of TV...probably streaming....but will be nice to see the games...and weather should be nice too. ..temp in the 70s...in Feb....?

Sunday is the only day this weekend projected to be in the 70s at this point.

OK....looks like it will be warmer in my part of NC than in AU....but still, pretty good weather for softball except for the starting time for tonight's game will be pretty cool by the time the game is underway... better dress warmly......but 70s next week....too bad but that's February for you...just not very predictable.

SIUE has a good team and sports a hometown (Auburn High School) player in Haley Adrian. My daughter played with Haley through school and she's a heck of a player. They will be bringing all they can against Auburn on Friday.

Any news on our walking wounded and sick?

Looks like Draper (knee), Gipson (foot/toe), Greenwood (shoulder), and Carlson (foot) are as good as they will get for the season, barring any other setbacks.  Would think Crocker (knee) and McCrackin (head) will be back this week for practice.  May have seen the last of Snow for this year.  Good thing Veach has shown improvement and pop.  Even with some inconsistent hitting and defense, still getting good pitching and should only improve.

I was hoping to see Snow at least once. I hope she can get healthy. Sounds serious.
