If there is a journalist anywhere in the country that is intimidated in the least by the President's bluster on social media, then they are even more thin-skinned than Trump appears to be. I think the point was freedom of the press is one of the constitutional foundations for our liberty. Trump clearly has contempt for that principle. Being as he is president, that's worrisome. Do you think you are being honest when you imply that Trump is saying that he is not for freedom of the press? Can you explain how you can surmise that Trump is against the freedom of the press based on this tweet? Do you think that Trump, a U.S. citizen, has the freedom of speech to make such a tweet? Exactly who is against the U.S. Constitution? I don't believe you are stupid. The Twitter post CLEARLY says that FAKE NEWS MEDIA (I see you left that out) is the enemy of the people. But you keep twisting yourself in a pretzel to justify his war on the press. Just don't come around here later claiming to be some champion of the constitution. AUUSN 823
JFK took a lot of heat for the Bay of Pigs, much more heat than orange face but even he didn't stoop to claiming the media as the enemy.
AURaptor 1,119
Bay of Pigs was a complete disaster, and showed the inexperience of a ( too ) young President. Flat out bizarre that anyone would dare compare today's FAKE news to the political mess which Kennedy made for himself . HE caused that, where as Trump is the target of things he's NOT done. That was a mistake on my part. I don't see how that changes the meaning of my post, but I stand corrected on that. I don't see that there is a war on the press. GiveEmElle 1,559
The issue is who Trump calls fake news. Is he going to add Fox to the list now that Shepard Smith has called him out? If he wants to go to war with fake news, why not attack Alex Jones or Breitbart? Oh yeah, those groups aren't holding him accountable for what he says and does so they get a pass. Keep drinking the orange koolaid though. But know that one day, it might contain poison.

Dishonest5:15 PM · Feb 17, 2017 I am against Trump's use of lies and the press's use of lies. I disagree with your assumption that Trump is saying that all negative news is fake. I absolutely think that the Trump administration is trying to reestablish the role of the press in working with his administration just as the press is trying to reestablish its role in working with Trump. It is certainly an ugly process. I see both sides as being sleazy. I cannot say at this point who is the sleaziest.

I happen to believe (maybe it's the Kool-Aid) that the media has an agenda with its reporting other than reporting the facts and trying to make money for their companies. If you show me where Trump or conservatives are saying the press should be restricted as to what they can print and say then I will apologize for missing your point. I COMPLETELY believe that the press should not be limited in what they are allowed to print (with a few exceptions) and I COMPLETELY believe that citizens should be free to call out the press for being untruthful.
