Baseball vs George Washington game 1

I'll be in and out for this one, so not a full game thread for me.   Just thought I would get it started.  1st of two games today. 

Here's the lineup for Auburn in game 1

Casey Mize starting and Logan behind the plate....Mize starts with a fast ball for called strike and the game is under way....

Mize's fast ball in the upper 90s today....Thompson hit 96 yesterday....wonder if the gun is accurate?    Would be nice if that's the case....

Mize get's em 3 up and 3 down....easy inning ....couple infield ground outs and a called strike 3 to close out the top of the first.

Jarvis starts with long fly to center....right to the wall but just a big out...but good contact.

Well AU is down in order too  no score at end of the first...

Swinging bunt for the lead off batter in the 2nd.....and GW will try to move him along....

grounder to first advances the runner to second...one out.  Mize has a good FB today....but gets the batter with a slower pitch...and runner is still on second

Mize sticking to the FB today....and ahead of the batters thus far...and a fly to CF ends the inning with runner stranded and no score.

And AU goes down in order....and score is still 0-0 after 2 on what looks like a cloudy and cool day....not affecting the pitchers however...both are in control thus far.

AU comes to bat with no score at bottom of the 3rd.......Mize gave up a hit but stranded runner at first....nice solid inning and a quick moving game....Lots of strikes by both pitchers.

Second baseman Holland hits the ball against the green monster...not quite out...and settles for a double...AU's first hit for the morning and runner at 2nd with 2 outs...Jarvis at the plate as the line-up turns over.  Jarvis flies to center to stand our runner and game remains scoreless after 3 complete.

Mize looking very good today...I was impressed with him last year though I recall perhaps that he had some control problems but he's on target today and GW not able to handle his fast ball thus far.  

Not sure how long he will go today....Mize with about 60 pitches so far....5 strike outs thus far...Well....took a BallPark hot dog break...apologies if I miss something ..having to multi-task this morning.....and trying to keep up with the game too.

And Mize get's his second K of the inning ....6 thus far and GW is again down in order. 

AU coming to bat in bottom of 4th.....need to start making some contact off their pitcher....nice double by Holland but that has pretty much been it for the AU batters.

GW righty facing most RH batters for AU.....understand we have very few who hit from the left side this year.

Meanwhile the first AU batter... goes down on strikes. and Anthony goes down...up to Roberts

Lipscomb warning up in the bull pen...might be the last we see of Mize today....almost 70 pitches which is plenty on a cool day at the start of the season.

Well..Mize is back out for the top of the 5th...need to get him a run in our half... and get him a decision.  Been a nice outing for him and would be too bad for him to end up with a no decision.

First GW batter grounds to short for out 1.

And very nice play by Anthony at 3rd on a sharply hit ball....and got the runner easily at first for the 2nd out.

Mize totally in control today....gets the 3rd out with a swinging K.

Decker starts the bottom of the 5th for AU....need to get something started but Decker's liner was right the RF who made the grab. 

Todd at bat with one out....GW pitcher staying ahead of most AU batters but Todd lines one to right for a single and AU's second base runner of the day.

McGuffin at bat.. pitch n the dirt and Todd takes second to put a man in scoring position..... Ooops McGuffin badly fooled on a low curve and goes down for out #2...Todd still waiting on a based hit and Logan answers with an RBI single...close play at the plate but AU takes the lead. 

Nice throw from the RF but Todd was running with 2 outs and made a nice slide to avoid the tag......and Mize is now the pitcher or record.

Holland at bat with Logan on first.....grounds to short....bad throw pulls the first basemen off the base..jumped for it and Holland ran into him....ugly looking collision but the !B seems OK and game resumes.

Logan was unable to score...runners on 1st and 3rd

Jarvis singles to center...drives in Logan and AU takes a 2-0 lead....and still have runners on 1st and 3rd for Estes

Estes pops to short center and inning is over.

Top of 6th and AU leading 2-0/
