aubiefifty 16,695
saturdaydownsouth.com Report: Tommy Tuberville considering running for Alabama governor Tommy Tuberville’s days as a college football coach may be numbered but that doesn’t mean you’ve heard the last from the former Auburn and Ole Miss head coach. According to Terry Lathan, the chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, Tuberville is considering running for governor of Alabama in 2018, per Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports. Tuberville stepped down from his duties as head coach of Cincinnati following a 4-8 season last season. While his time with the Bearcats may not have been much of a success, Tuberville enjoyed an 85-40 record as head coach at Auburn from 1999-2008 and had a 25-20 record at Ole Miss from 1995-1998. Tuberville is perhaps most known in Alabama for winning six consecutive games over the Crimson Tide from 2002-2007. At least one political pundit believes in Tuberville, as former political consultant Steve French gave the former football coach a chance at winning, per Dodd’s report. “I think Tommy would stand a slugger’s chance of getting elected,” French said. Tuberville is expected to make a final decision on running in the next two weeks.
