Harvard law professor Lawrence Tribe pointed out on Tuesday that President Donald Trump could face impeachment if he lied when he claimed President Barack Obama had personally ordered surveillance of his phones during the 2016 presidential campaign.

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe broadcast on Tuesday, George Washington University Law School Professor Jonathan Turley opined that Trump could not be impeached for making false claims about the former president because the comments were made on Twitter.

“There’s no penalty to the president for bad tweets,” Turley said. “[Twitter] postdated the [U.S. Constitution’s] impeachment clause. So, there’s no impeachment for bad tweets.”

Tribe quickly disagreed with Turley on Twitter.

Laurence Tribe is a highly respected law professor. I know of him from his interactions with Ken White (of Popehat fame). He knows his stuff. When he says something, it would be wise to listen.

No, we don't. There hasn't been any evidence of a wiretap in Trump Tower so far that we're aware of aside from the Breitbart article Trump parroted that hasn't been independently verified, so we cannot say for sure if it is true or if it isn't. If there was a wiretap on Trump Tower regarding the Russian Connection, it would go through the FBI (who are investigating the Trump Campaign's relationship with Russian officials) and the Judiciary (specifically, a FISA Court), and not past the President. FBI Director James Comey strongly countered Trump's claims.

Your "evidence" isn't the proof you seem to think it is. 

People are asking "What evidence?" about Trump's claims of fact that Obama tapped Trumps phone. About the implication that Obama, either directly, or indirectly, ordered Trump's phone to be tapped to unduly influence the election. That the wire tap wasn't part of a legal investigation authorized and approved by the checks and balances within the justice department. People are asking for evidence as it's a pretty damn serious accusation for the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES to throw around willy-nilly.

It's one thing if "Donald Trump, Celebrity" says such things (see the birther shenanigans). It's another thing entirely if Donald Trump, POTUS" says such things. And Trump doesn't appear to have realized that.

We know there was a wire on the Trump campaign. That's been printed in the NYT. We ALSO know that Obama was briefed. 

This administration has wire tapped or hacked reporters phones and e-mails.  The IRS under this admin has targeted citizens and attempted to silence their political speech.

Trump was wiretapped. That much is known. As far as HE knows, that's the most likely place it happened, as he likely spent most of his time there, where he strategized the most... it's only logical to conclude. Well, there is one person that could put all this to rest by just providing us some evidence. As POTUS, Trump has the power to declassify any info pertaining to wiretaps immediately. Not really holding my breath, though.

Guess I'll have to keep repeating this until it sinks in. 

Jan 19th, the NYT already reported that Trump had been wiretapped, and that Obama had been briefed.  Now, you may reply with " that's not PROOF ! " , to which I'd reply.... of course not. ESPECIALLY with the media today. But the over all POINT of this entire NON story is that Russia hacked our election, and that some how Trump was in collusion w/ Putin, Russia,  or some semblance there of.
