The biggest news this weekend is that previously undefeated Oregon has lost twice to UCLA,and has yet to score in the series.  The Bruins have only scored three runs.  Last night,it went to the ninth before a UCLA batter reached base on an error, took second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a sac bunt, and scored on a passed ball.  The Bruins had two hits in the game. Also in the PAC-12, 39-1 Arizona continued its demolition of last-place Stanford with a 12-0 victory.  Friday the Wildcats hit 7 homers in a 20-1 win.  They lead the country with 67 homers.

Closer to home, LSU evened it series with uat with a 1-0 victory.  In top 5, a batter reached when her bouncer caromed off the pitcher's glove and away from the shortstop.  She stole second and scored on a Landry single.

Oregon suffered its 3d loss in 4 games last night to Washington.  the ducks are into the challenging part of their schedule now, with Arizona coming up after Washington, and later Florida State.  The Arizona Wildcats continue to annihilate everyone in their path, victimizing Utah last night.  I think they're 41-1.  And the Gators defeated the Seminoles Wednesday night in that battle for state supremacy.  The Gators scratched across a run in bot 7 for the 1-0 win.

Wondering how long we can hold onto our ranking....saw a piece today...AU near bottom in hitting, near bottom in fielding and Carlson right now the only solid pitcher.  I noted last week that Clint seems to be doing it with smoke and mirrors.....just wondering how much longer this can go on.

Big series against Mizz this weekend.....sure do need a revitalization of our batting.

I've been thinking the same thing.  Desperately need Martin to regain her form.  The pressure has been on Carlson to win every game she pitches, in order to get the series victory.  Too much to ask, as we saw yesterday.  Noticed Mizzou changed pitchers 2 or 3 times yesterday, an apparent strategy to keep our hitters off balance.  Wonder if that will become a regular thing?

In good news, other ranked teams are having some problems.  #1 Arizona just lost the series to #16 Utah.  Kentucky beat Florida today.  And Ole Miss completed a sweep of LSU in Oxford, so maybe our loss to OM wasn't so bad.

Notable non-Auburn line scores from tonight:  ULaLa beat aTm 11-9; uat beat 24-23 Southern Miss 2-0.  My favorite line score, however, was the one announcing that Minnesota beat Wisconsin 6-0 in 12 innings.  MInnesota had 16 hits and Wisconsin 9.

Tennessee just won the second game of their series with LSU in BR; go for the sweep tomorrow.  Gotta pull for the Tigers, I want somebody to take a nick out of UT before the SEC tourney.  Today's win was the 20th straight.  uat lost last night to Washington, and was trailing 2-0 today.  They're in a delay.

Florida - FSU played their rematch tonight in Tallahassee.  You might say it was a pitcher's duel.  Barnhill for the lizards, Burroughs started and went 4.1 for the 'Noles, relieved by King.  Both teams got a run in the first, then nothing but zeroes until the 11th.  Rosario tripled for FSU; after an out, Powers homered  Barnhill (21-1) took her first loss while striking out 21.

Lots of interesting action on this last weekend of the regular season.  In the SEC series we all have an eye on, Tennessee evened things up with A&M with an 8-4 win today.  LSU continued its slide by losing the second game (and the series) to South Carolina in Columbia.  Miss. St defeated Kentucky 5-3, and I believe MSU has won two in that series.  Some games of interest out West, also.  UCLA blasted Arizona 11-0 yesterday and had them down 6-0 tonight in the 7th when I had to change channels.  Stanford, the lowliest team in the PAC-12, defeated Washington 6-0, yielding only one hit to the Huskies.  And finally, Oregon blasted Florida State 11-0 on 12 hits.  FSU only got two hits, and made up for it by committing 4 errors.  Guess they're still reliving their dramatic victory over the Gators.  The second game of that series should be finishing about now.
