Agree with the first part but they do not have a lot of talent. 3-19 conference record is really hard to do if you have talent.

You are just flat out wrong. They have had a big upheaval in coaching. That's the issue with the bammers. They have been close in a lot of games. It's not like they have been blown out all season.

Terrible loss! This team has struggled at times to beat teams that we should beat easily (aka the mid-week games). That's two straight games that we have lost when our ace Keegan Thompson was pitching. And it was compounded by the two un-earned runs that were the difference in the game.

That's just baseball. Even really good teams struggle from time to time.

Butch has done an outstanding job with this team to date, but 1 1/2 years in, it is obvious we still have some talent gaps to fill. They play well as a team and our top three pitchers are outstanding. But our roster is not yet full of the caliber of ball players BT and his staff will have here in 2-3 years. Based on his track record, I am confident that with one or two more recruiting classes we will be a top tier SEC team consistently.

I have to wonder if it is possible to build a roster in baseball...starting with only a dozen scholarships which limits how many gaps you can fill....and then bringing in kids from JUCO too of course.

Looking at our current roster, we will be losing a bunch of very good players to graduation or MLB and BT either brings in some freshmen who are probably not ready for SEC ...or  JUCOs who will only be here 2 years and then gone.

JMO but baseball coaches probably have to learn to play every year with a mostly new roster of players.

It is not as clear of a task as in football or basketball but an awful lot of programs in the SEC have figured it out. Right now, we are playing with no heart. May be time for cool collected BT to start chewing some rears.

Baseball recruiting is super tricky. You don't want to put all your eggs in the top guys basket because they are going to be way too good to make it to campus like a few years ago with Addison Russell and David Dahl for us. You want to hit that sweet spot of getting guys signed who are good enough to get drafted in the later rounds but also will still sign with Auburn and be there till at least their junior year.
