CNN’s Jim Acosta ridiculed President Trump on Thursday for essentially holding a “fake news conference” by pursuing easy questions at his latest press event.

As CNN New Day addressed Trump’s conference from Poland, they noted how the president slid around questions about Russia as heattacked the “fake news” media once again. Chris Cuomo asked Acosta for his take on the presser, and whether he was surprised that Trump chose to invoke “petty political plays” on the world stage.

Acosta grumbled about how Trump sought questions from David Martosko, a “friendly” Daily Mail reporter who gave the president an easy set-up to go after CNN.

“For the president to go off on CNN as fake news, to me, made this spectacle feel like a ‘fake news conference,'” said Acosta. “This was not an attempt by the president to seek out a question from somebody who was going to challenge him on the issues.”

Acosta went on to say that it was “unfortunate” how conservative news media were being “used” by Trump to attack his enemies among the press. Acosta also pushed back on Trump blaming Russian election interference on Barack Obama when the president doesn’t plan to challenge Vladimir Putin about the subject in their upcoming meeting.

Typical CNN. I heard even some of his critics say his speech was the best one In Europe since Reagan. But as a recent poll showed, 93% of CNN's news concerning Trump is negative. And it should be noted just earlier this week Acosta had to retact some staements he mad full of errors.

CNN, plumbing new depths....they even ran wild with the "Polish 1st lady snubbs Trump" faked video and had to retract that one too...these guys will go to no end to try to defame Trump.  They've ceased to be news; they're an advocacy group for the worst elements of the liberal left...they are getting what they deserve.

Acosta must have been overcome with excessive shock because he doesn't mention to the CNN audience is that Hallie Jackson of MSNBC got to ask Trump a question at the fake news conference.

‘This Is Not a Crusade’: Jim Acosta Says Trump Criticism Is ‘Journalism’ and ‘Not Partisan’

In recent weeks, CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta has delivered some harsh criticism towards President Donald Trump and the White House. He’s called the president a “purveyor of fake news,”labeled a recent presser in Poland a “fake news conference” andtangled with White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer over the lack of on-camera press briefings.

This has led to some pushback against Acosta from the White House and Trump loyalists. Fox News host Sean Hannity has taken aim at Acosta on Twitter and recently devoted a TV segment on the journalist in which he called the reporter “unhinged.” Meanwhile, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Acosta’s comments on Trump are “unfair” and brought up recent controversies at CNN to brush them off.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Acosta defended his recent actions, describing them as being part of his job:

“I think I’m just covering a story, honestly,” Acosta says in a call from Germany, where he has been covering the president. “When the president of the United States calls the press ‘fake news’ and ‘the enemy of the American people,’ ” he adds, “I think that’s when you have to get tough and ask the hard questions.”

The Post noted that Spicer has essentially called Acosta a grandstander who is just trying to make a name for himself while also highlighting that Acosta hasn’t garnered widespread support from other White House reporters. At the same time, CNN has stood by Acosta, calling him a “fantastic reporter.”

With it being pointed out that Acosta was also pretty tough on the Obama administration, pressing them on issues like the IRS scandal and President Obama labeling ISIS the “JV team,” the CNN correspondent explained he is just being who he’s always been.

Acosta says today the president and the issues have changed. But he hasn’t. “This is not a crusade,” he says. “This is not partisan. This is journalism. We’re trying to hold them to account.’”

Acosta’s boss, CNN Washington bureau chief Sam Feist, compared him to former ABC News reporter Sam Donaldson while saying Acosta is doing the same level of reporting he’s always done.
