Got to see Jason Isbell up close and personal last night. Great show, as always. Credit to @McLoofus for turning me on to him this time last year (no homo). IMG_20180510_222805.jpg

Yessssss. He closed with it. We were geeking out over Children of Children the most, probably.

When we saw him the first time in Huntsville, Amanda played with him and there were definitely be tears during Vampires and Cover Me Up.

CoC was TT's favorite Isbell tune. Might have to spin it on my drive home today.

And again, damn, those seats!

My current project I’m working on right now in Adobe Illustrator (significantly harder to pick up than Photoshop btw). The Student Minstry I’m working for’s Summer theme and it’s a play at Jaden Smith’s album “Syre”.

Must be nice......I had almost identical seats at Grand Casino Gulfport in 2003 and David Lee Roth never waived at me. Some guys have all the luck ?

Yeah, those are good seats.

On the other hand, I got to see him - when he was with the "Drive By Truckers"  - at a small venue in Asheville which was similar.

Nice! That's a great room.

Yeah, I always go when the DBT play there.  But they may be getting too big for that venue?

We had a great venue in Greenville called The Handlebar.  Wasn't as large as The Orange Peel but I saw some great acts there including Steve Earle and Little Feat.  Unfortunately they closed.

We still have a lot of small venues in bars and restaurants, but nothing really like the Orange Peel.

Do you live in Greenville? Half of my family is from there. I love that city. My dad grew up on Cleveland Street.

I know we sent some folks from Huntsville over there a couple years ago when we started planning to revitalize our downtown area. It's still nothing like Greenville, but it's improved a lot.

We still have a small cabin up in Ceasar's Head. Really beautiful area. I love visiting.

I live on scenic SC Hwy 11, about 14 miles above Travelers Rest.

Greenville is often held up as a model for how cities can revitalize themselves.  It's unbelievable how it's changed since the mid-70's when I first arrived.  It's become a "destination city".

TR is becoming revitalized also, largely thanks to the Swamp Rabbit Trail (a rails to trail project).  There are a lot of really good restaurants in TR now.   We love it here.

Although the pace of development is a little concerning, I just hope it continues to be done in a responsible way.

I saw him with the Truckers a couple times. Man, what a different time. Back when they were doing their Skynrd thing, in the studio and on stage, 3 guitars and passing the JD bottle around on stage and such. Some of those songs will hold up forever, though. And some of those shows... Patterson would f'ing GO FOR IT.

:hellyeah:

I am totally a "Truckerhead" (if that's what they call themselves).  I've got everything they've recorded.  And the live shows are even better.

I'm tempted to catch them on my next good opportunity - Athens,  :puke:

They'll be rockin'.
