After passing up on running for governor of Alabama, Tommy Tuberville is headed to television.

The former Auburn coach is joining ESPN as a game analyst for the upcoming college football season, the network announced Wednesday.

Tuberville will call games each week across ESPN networks or ABC. His broadcast partners will be named soon.

"Tommy has been a staple in college football for many years, having experienced nearly every situation as a head coach" ESPN senior coordinating producer Lee Fitting said in a statement. "We want him to bring that experience to our telecast, informing fans on the dynamics of a head coach's thought process, not only in a given moment but leading up to and following that moment."

Tuberville comes to ESPN after an offseason in which he considered, but ultimately decided against, running for governor. He coached at Cincinnati the past four years, prior to which he was at Texas Tech (2010-12), Auburn (1999-08) and Ole Miss (1995-98).
