Other than getting Chip away from Gus, could this also mean quiet Hand's input and let him focus more on his o-line?

Our OL was getting whipped every play...then camera pans to them in the 2nd half on the sideline...just sitting there watching the D w/ no teaching going on.

Oh you are positive ok then. Things were not made clear like they were after saturday.

Long time lurker, really appreciate the good info from this site and the fact that GGM has kept Auburn clean, scandal-free, and out of the bad news.

But as stubborn as CGM has proven to be, I can only assume the PTB must have used strong language and told him he'd be fired in order for it be "made clear" this time. Either way, I'm feeling that this is not a very good situation if we're having to tell our head coach to stay out of coaching when he's supposed to be an offensive specialist. I can't imagine USCe telling Muschamp to stay out of the defensive play-calling.

Lastly, what is the contingency plan if in fact Gus falls back into play-calling? I see some saying 50/50 chance he complies. Would it be Steele as interim? Borges?

TIA

Borges has never been a HC.   I would say Steele, but you know what?   If Borges let Chip run his show and left Steele alone, we have an immediate upgrade.  Also you don't burden Steele with all the HC crap.

I vote Borges because he is wise enough to not meddle.

Saban dictated the way he wanted his program run and removed anyone that disagreed with it. He explicitly and in great detail explained how it was to be done. He then showed how he wanted it handled. He now runs the team as the CEO with everyone in step with his ideas. He does not need to meddle. Its being done his way each and every time.

You are generous thinking the chances are 50/50 that he complies.  Gus does not listen to anybody about his offense.  He knows better than anybody that his offense is unstoppable IF everybody executes perfectly and the defense does what he thinks they are going to do. The problem here is his offense is not unstoppable, everybody doesn't execute perfectly every play and defenses have had 7 years to figure out how to stop it.   But Gus does not understand this.

He has wandered so far from his original philosophy, it is unrecognizable.   There is no HUNH to press defensive linemen, or pressure with creative short routes or midlevel passes.   We throw a bubble screen and ????  See what I mean?  No timing passes, no TE.  You can't compare Gus today to Gus in 2013 or earlier.

And it is very odd how much he changed. Going from putting up 600+ yards against Bama in 2014 to this.  What happened Gus?

Just like many of us, I'm certain the PTB see the great talent we have this year in all 3 phases of the game. Would hate to waste the talent this year when we have a real shot! I certainly do not want to speculate, but it was stated that it was "made clear" this time and was wondering in what way it was made clear to Gus and if he doesn't comply, then what is the timetable and fall back plan.

Jeremy Johnson happened.  And JF3 did not turn into Nick Marshal 2.0

If Gus can only win with the likes of Cam and the athleticism of Nick Marshal, he is done.   Those guys were JC transfers and almost nobody gets players like that.  A decent coach can adapt his scheme to his avail talent and it is crystal clear Gus is incapable of such.

not sure what is with the attitude, but I have been told this and it comes from the opposite side that your sources are on I believe.

Wasn't an attitude but that was not a fact.  He wasn't blatantly told before the season to keep out of offense playcalling.  It was suggested let Chip do his job and now things changed.

You just used Saban as an example, sooooooooo, lets compare the "coaching family tree" concerning the two, Saban and Malzahn.    Who has the experience to fall back on?.     And at what levels of the game?.....See the difference?

I wasn't comparing them on coaching levels just the background in coaching.  Gus has an offensive background so naturally he would want some input on offense.  Sabanan is the same on defense.

I want to see how good Clemson ' s  defense is against Louisville.

I wouldn't compare what they are able to do against the reigning Heisman trophy winner who will be the fastest man on the field and will be able to run around and get away from the rush something stidham tried but wasn't successful.  I expect LJ to have a good game.

I'm not expecting them to shut Louisville down but if Jackson goes for 500 + total yardage then I will start to worry if the naysayers are on to something about CGM and his coaching abilities. I am a staunch believer in CGM but my faith is starting to waver TBH.

At least better than us with less overall talent.....Jackson probably will give them enough in the first quarter that we could have won the game with

Kinda funny

Florida fans have been clamoring for JM to take playcalling away from their OC, and they announced  he will be moving to the press box.

We're clamoring for our HC to actually let our OC call plays, so we send our OC to the press box.

But he was still able to game plan to the strengths of Chris Todd.

No pressure on him with Chris Todd.

It really makes more sense for the OC to call plays from the press box.  He has a better view of what the entire offense is doing, and what the opposing defense is doing to counter.  If you have to analyze and make calls in real time, the vantage point is much better than the sideline.

I was really just picking fun that we are doing the same thing but that our issue is the opposite of florida's. Lol

I really should have added "shouldn't we send Gus to the press box then?"

Clemson is not as good as ya'll are giving them credit for being.     just watch

Agree but we can be pretty sure they will get better, the ongoing question is will Auburn? I think I might be even more upset about Saturday night if Auburn does not lose until Alabama. Knowing that Clemson was a winnable game but losing has made me be more skeptical about Gus than ever before.
